Diane Stevens writes in with the following question. TJ any ideas why animation slides are not duplicating correctly? The duplicated slide animation is not running with the same timing. Diane, I have to be honest, I'm not sure I even understand the question or what you're talking about now. Obviously has something to do with slides and PowerPoint. Here's my bigger challenge for you. Before you spend even one second thinking about slides, in my professional opinion, you need to have a great speech already that you've rehearsed many times on video and you've seen it and you like it. So if, forget the slides being duplicated the right way. What if the bulb burns out? What if the projector doesn't work? What if the screen doesn't work? What if there's no electricity? You need to be in a situation where you know you're going to give a great presentation. People are going to understand your ideas and remember your ideas and be able to take the actions you want before you spend even one second on slides. I'm not anti slides. I use slides all the time. But. But the slides will not make the presentation. And what happens, and don't in any way mean to be critical of you, but what I've seen in real life happen is people start this process of preparing for a speech and then next thing you know, they spent five hours on slide duplication issues and technical issues and they've never actually practiced a speech. They've never actually come up with good stories or examples. They've never narrowed their presentation down to five key points though. They've completely eliminated all the fundamentals. And, and they're off here on this, you know, this side. It's as if I came to you and said, I want to be a great movie maker. I've got this great idea for a movie and now let me spend all of my time coming up with the movie trailer to run on the Super Bowl. Before you worry about a movie trailer, you need to figure out how to have a good story. You got to make the movie, you got to have a director. I mean, there's just so many things you got to worry about before a 30 second trailer might appear on the super bowl, if ever. That's kind of how I feel when people start focusing on their slides. I'm TJ Walker. I help people speak more effectively. If you'd like to improve your skills, click below. We have a number of options.
