TJ Walker explains why self-improvement fails: one-off books and workshops don't stick in a world of constant distraction. Ultimize solves this with a personalized daily playlist of short reminders designed to nudge your habits, using the same tactics that advertising uses to shape behavior.

So what problem does Ultimize solve? The problem is this. People want to improve their lives. They want to be happier, wealthier, have better relationships, be more creative, be more productive, have better careers, have overall higher levels of satisfaction in life. Everybody wants that. But the real problem is every time people try to improve in any one of those areas, you can read a book, temporarily get better. A week goes by, you forget. You go back down. You can go to a seminar, workshop, get all pumped up, get really excited, try new things for a few weeks, maybe a few months. But then you forget. You go back to where you were. You hire a coach or a personal trainer. You work one on one with them once a week, maybe a therapist. You see improvement. But it's the same thing. It's up, down, it's yo yo. It's like a yo yo diet. Improvements don't stick. That is the problem so many people around the world face. And that is the problem Ultimize is designed to fix. We live in a world of ultimate overabundance. The world is awash with really inexpensive food, inexpensive sugar to go into that food, really cheap clothing, junk stuff that you can buy on Amazon and every other store in the world. And the world is filled with entertainment. YouTube, Netflix, movies, video games. So we've gone from a world that was overwhelmingly dominated by scarcity, most of human history, not enough food, very little entertainment, not much stuff, to one now where everyone, unless you're the bottom 700 million people on the globe in terms of income, everyone faces the dilemma of having too much stuff, overabundance. And the result is we are overwhelmed as human beings. We're overwhelming our body with too much garbage food, too many calories, too much sugar. We're overwhelming our house and our apartment, our garages, with too much cheap stuff, cheap clothes, cheap plastics, more and more possessions, which gives us more debt. And we're overwhelming our brains, our minds, with too much cheap entertainment. Yet another TikTok video, more YouTube, more videos from Amazon prime and Netflix. All of this is creating a problem in that human beings are simply overwhelmed, and it's destroying our ability to live life at the highest level. So that is the problem Ultimize is designed to solve. People have specific pain, and the pain is you go on a diet, you get all excited, you lose some weight, six months go by, not only have you put back on all the weight, you've gained more weight than you ever had before. You get all excited about seeing a financial counselor. You get your accounting in order, your finances in Shape for a little while. A year goes by. You now have more credit card debt than ever before. You go to a public development personal development workshop. You get all excited about starting your new business plan, writing your novel. You're pumped up, you're high fiving everyone. But a month later you're sitting on the couch and how are you spending your time? Scrolling, Looking at Facebook, looking at TikTok, looking at social media and not really living life. This is causing pain, this is making people realize they're wasting their lives and it's resulting in a lot of unhappiness, mental, physical anguish. And Ultimize is designed to fix this problem in a unique way. Now people go to therapists, read self help books, go to motivational seminars because they want to change their behavior. And yet when you look at people who are really good at changing human behavior, that's not what they do. When Coca Cola, McDonald's, Kentucky Fried Chicken, when they want to change behavior, they don't ask you to go to a weekend workshop to learn how to enjoy french fries. No, they just put little ads in front of you, Little golden arches, little coupons, billboards in front of you every day of your life. McDonald's doesn't send you a book to read. Coca Cola doesn't send you a book to read to learn how to enjoy drinking Coke. They simply put little reminders in front of you every day of your life through advertising, through marketing. And that is the central insight that Ultimize has that makes it completely different from any other personal development app, any other health and wellness app, any other personal growth tactic. Book workshop is we are embracing the tactics of Madison Avenue and Silicon Valley. Facebook, Google Ads, YouTube ads, they get you by bombarding you, short little messages here and there all day long. So our central thesis at Ultimize is that if you want to change behavior, if you want to change habits with people, the one off stuff doesn't work. Reading a book once, going to a workshop once, going to a seminar, hiring a coach you see once a week for two months doesn't really work. What works is regular marketing, regular advertising. The largest corporations in the world spend in the aggregate $1 trillion a year on advertising worldwide. Why do corporations spend money on advertising? Because it works. Because it changes human behavior. It's in fact the only form of human behavior change that's tested rigorously. Self help books, workshops, no one really knows if those create long term behavioral change. But advertising is tested by major corporations every single day. When you see an ad on the super bowl or the World Cup. It's there because it was tested for its effectiveness in smaller markets, quite often for months or even years. Ultimize takes the same approach. So instead of simply reading once a month in an article about why it's healthy to drink more water or start your day drinking water, Ultimize gives you a few 5 second audio message reminding you to drink water today. So that's the central organizing principle of Ultimize. It is a daily playlist giving you instructions on how you want to think, how you want to program your brain. But it's not me telling you, you got to live my way or some other philosopher or self help guru. You get to decide what messages you hear on a regular basis. Now we give you a template of messages that combine a synthesis of all the best personal development messages to help you with your health, your life, your relationships, your finances. But you can get rid of all of those and just use your own. You can create your own, you can edit the ones we give you. The idea is that you take control over your own life because you now have the ability to bombard yourself on a daily basis with short little reminders. Now it's simple, because it's passive. You're already listening to stuff each day. You listen to the radio, you listen to podcasts, you listen to your music. If you watch TV or video, you're already hearing information ads of other people trying to manipulate you. This is a series of messages designed to manipulate you. But in this case, it's you trying to control the strengths of your own life. That is what's different about it. That's why it's so powerful. Isn't it time that you had the power of a big ad agency working for you? That's what Ultimize does. It gives you the power to control what is hitting your brain on a regular basis. So you can start your day listening to your own Ultimize playlist. You can pick the voice, male, female, you can pick the messages, you can pick the length. The beauty of it is you do it on your terms. You want to listen to it for two minutes a day, you can do that. You want to listen to it for two hours a day, you can do that. But it's passive. It doesn't require you pulling out your schedule and blocking off an hour each day for personal development time. No, you can simply be walking to work, walking your dog, doing the dishes, sitting on a bus and listening just as you would a podcast, just as you would your favorite music playlist. But instead, you're going to listen to messages that help you figure out how you want to think, what you want to focus on, what principles you want to embrace as you go through your daily life. So that's what's different about us. It's not so much a gigantic new technology, it's simply combining. Think of it this way. Throughout most of human history, in the last 4,000 years, a suitcase looked the same. It was either a trunk, a suitcase you held with a handle, and you had to pick it up and carry it. And one day several decades ago, someone was at an airport and noticed, Gosh, people are picking all these big, heavy suitcases. They're putting it on this big container with wheels on it, this cart and pushing it. What if we just put the wheel on the suitcase and it completely revolutionized how suitcases were made and used. It was a combining the suitcase and the wheels. So you seems obvious now, but it wasn't obvious for 4,000 years. What we at Ultimize are doing is combining the power of repetitive daily messaging, marketing of basic ideas with traditional personal development, self help, good, healthy principles, habits and ideas. We're marrying the two together in a way that's frankly never been done. So do we have competition? Of course we do. There are great habits apps out there. There's Habitica, there's productive. There are great meditation apps out there. There's calm, there's Headspace. There are lots and lots of apps out there to help people become more fulfilled. Beyond that, there's competition everywhere in the form of another video from a Guru on YouTube or Facebook or TikTok. And there's good ideas everywhere. There's also competition in the form of just sitting back, watching TV and having ads bombard you saying, drink more sugar water, eat more cake and pie. That is competition too, because ultimately we are in the business of enabling somebody to control your brain. That's what Facebook does. But our somebody is you. We want you to control your brain and you to control your life. Because every other big media company, whether it's a social media company or traditional media company, is fighting for someone, but it's not you. You, for their big advertisers, you are just what they're serving up on a platter to others. In the case of Ultimize, we're changing this power dynamic around to give you the power. So that's what it's all about. So, yes, there's competition everywhere for power over your brain. Where we are different is that we're using the techniques of modern advertising, digital marketing, and for the first time ever, giving you that power back. And that is how we can help you create the life you want. You are what you think about. That is a personal development concept that you see 10 years ago, 50 years ago in literature, 200 years ago from Ben Franklin and going back to ancient religious text. You are what you think about. Ultimize helps ground you on a daily basis so that you're thinking the thoughts that help you live your ultimate life. And that's what Ultimize is all about.
