This is a YouTube video titled "Can the housing market grow with rising interest rates? #InterestRates" containing a conversation recorded in July 2025. The discussion features Tom Burton and another speaker analyzing the impact of rising interest rates on the housing market, wages, and economic growth, referencing historical context and future projections.
And what event creates that cliff? Or is it an event? And is it. Or is it more of just sort of a part of the journey?
Yeah, absolutely. You know, the first question I had for our CEO was, what? What is going to happen in the housing market in the second half of the decade? And we expect it to grow. And I said, with those types of rates coming our way, yeah, you're crazy. Because how do wages keep up with that? Right? That 28 wage number is key to that. We're always going to outpace that. And so that was one of our CEOs key points. Now, the other thing he said is you need a history lesson, my friend. He said, I know, Mr. Millennial, that you are. We live during a lot higher rates in the 70s and 80s, and we all invested in our business. You have to look at the consumer position and with handling our debt well and to see our wages likely to outpace inflation over the next five years. We can still grow when that happens. But, Tom, you're right that eventually this comes to a head.
