Short YouTube conversation (Tom Burton and another speaker) discussing a CPSC ruling that treats Amazon as a distributor—making Amazon responsible for hazardous or recalled items sold by third-party sellers and thus liable for recalls or faulty items.
Amazon is responsible now responsible for hazardous items sold by third party sellers because they've been basically deemed as a distributor. And what it looks like to me is if you're deemed as a quote, unquote distributor, then you are responsible for items that need recall or have faulty items or whatever as the distributor versus the manufacturer of those items.
Well, in typically the distributor in the world that we talk to the most, the distributor is going back to the manufacturer on those settings. But they've got to play a role in this.
Sure.
What Amazon has been avoiding is through all of this is they've been showing themselves as a E commerce provider and not a distributor. And now what the Consumer Product Safety Commission says, no, no, no, you can't, you can't just shuffle this off. You played a role in this and you have to play a role in solving these problems as well. And so what is.
