A short YouTube segment in which Tom Burton and another speaker discuss concrete impacts of the longest U.S. government shutdown on federal workers and services. They stress that after more than a month the effects—reduced airport capacity, unpaid federal employees, and strains on travel around Thanksgiving—are beginning to hit both workers and the public.
Federal workers face.
Growing hardship in the longest shutdown ever.
Well, I think it's start. Obviously it's starting to have real impact. And I've been surprised, right, for the first two weeks of this, it was kind of like not even really news. Next couple of weeks, oh, man. Okay. There's a few impacts here and there, and. But now we're what, well over a month, I think, you know, even employees, right, will go, okay, I'm willing to maybe do a month without pay. Now you start to get into the second month and now there's going to be real impact. Obviously, we just talked about the airports. They're going to reduce flight 10%. I mean, that's massive. They were saying they've never done anything like that before. I mean, other than when they shut, you know, 9, 11 and stuff. But now think about this, right? We have Thanksgiving coming up. We have what, in three weeks, probably the biggest travel week of the year. This is starting to be real to a lot of people. Not just people that are employed by the government, but people that are utilizing services that are provided by the government.
