Tom Guarriello thanks his 832 subscribers and explains why he stopped writing individual thank-you notes around 500 followers. He talks with Geriatric1927 about what keeps him making videos: knowing people find his content interesting or funny matters more than the subscriber count itself.

¡Hey, guys! It's Tom. Just wanted to make a quick video because I just got a, you know, every once in a while when you've made a lot of videos, every once in a while somebody goes back and takes a look at one of your old ones and makes a comment. And in this case, somebody made a comment and subscribed, and I realized that I haven't thanked my subscribers in a while, and I just wanted to take a chance to do that. You know, I used to write individual thank you notes to each one of my new subscribers, and I did that probably until I hit about 500 or so subscribers. Now I have 800, and as of just a minute ago when I checked, 832 subscribers. And I stopped writing thank you notes because I got behind on them and just didn't catch up. So But I wanted to let you know that that doesn't mean that I don't appreciate you subscribing. And in fact, Geriatric1927 and myself were having a conversation last week about making a video about why we continue to make videos here on YouTube. You know, the proverbial "Why do you tube?" kind of video. And one of the things that— just a little preview— one of the things that I'm going to be talking about is being able to— knowing that there are people who subscribe to my channel and who find what I say interesting, funny, valuable, whatever. And that, that's a— that has become for me an important continuing motivator to make videos. You know, it's a, it's a disappointment when somebody whose videos you like no longer makes videos. You know, there are people that I've subscribed to very, very early on here in my YouTube life who, for one reason or another, stopped making videos, and I miss them, and I miss their point of view. I miss their their humor, whatever it was that led me to subscribe to them in the first place. So, um, I just wanted to take a second to say, just because I'm not leaving individual thank you notes on your channels doesn't mean that I don't appreciate your subscriptions, because I do. Um, it matters to me that people are interested in my videos, and, uh, I, I, uh, hope to be able to keep making them for a long time. So, uh, thanks again, and, um, see you soon. Take care. Bye.
