In this brief vlog, Tom Guarriello, a veteran attendee of TED conferences for eight years, reflects on missing the recent TED Global held in Tanzania, Africa. He informs viewers that the first batch of TED Talks from Africa has just been uploaded to YouTube and specifically highlights the kickoff session (presented by a speaker whose name he attempts to pronounce as “Yuvendaidu”). Guarriello critiques the typical American view of Africa as a vague, undifferentiated continent and urges the audience to spend about twenty minutes watching the kickoff talk. He promises that this short commitment will dramatically reshape their understanding of Africa, and signs off with a friendly goodbye.
