After a stroke, Kanika turned down a stable consulting job at Infosys to join the startup Loadmill instead. The near-death experience gave her mental clarity and conviction. She now makes decisions without second-guessing and speaks with absolute truth.
Chapters
I live each day with so much clarity of mind and conviction that I have never had. I don't second-guess my choices. I live every day to the fullest. I enjoy what I do. I remember when I had the stroke, my very dear friend who runs Infosys Consulting for all of Asia Pacific said, Kanika, listen, you had a stroke. I'll give you a stable consulting gig. This is what you need at this time. You don't need a startup. I asked myself, what do you want to do, Kanika? And Kanika said from inside, if you have only one more day to live, you go and live your dream. And I went and joined Loadmill. And the difference between the Kanika before the stroke and after the stroke is that I don't second-guess my decisions. I don't, I come out with absolute truth, honesty, and I don't doubt what I am saying. And somehow that has all of a sudden changed everything for me. It's, and maybe it is not the way people look at me, it's just the way I look at myself. And I feel I am making more sense. I'm more authentic and the world around me understands a lot more, but it had to take. A little flip inside. They say that death is the price for heaven. You, you have to go through something to come out stronger. And I'm not saying, if anyone's read my book, I've seen enough in my life, but to see yourself in a stroke ward for 2 nights is a life-changing experience. I don't wish this to anyone. But what you get out of that is not that I will die, but what is the life you want to live?
