This is Tom Rogers with Empire Roofing doing an assessment on the rooftop here at 272 BlackBerry for Nikki Rogers in beautiful Sparta, Missouri. Just giving you a quick overview of the roofing system itself before we dive into looking up close at all the components on the roof. So we got called out here today to look for damages created by the recent storm. But first and foremost, let's go and just take a look at some of the components. You can see we've got a pipe jack here with a rubber grommet around it that is dry rotted. This happens over time. And you can see just from pressing down here on the side, we've got a gap. This allows water, basically static tension, to collect to the side of the pipe and run down into the interior of the home. We definitely want to get that corrected. This is also a flashing item that needs to be corrected. So we seal tight around this pipe penetration. This also allows water to travel down the pipe down below the roof line. So we're seeing these flashings on this pipe jack, just showing you some hail indication. Looks like it got shot pretty good. These darker spots are hail spatter. Hail spatter is when hail falls from the sky and basically explodes onto the surfaces of the roof. And so up close, you can see we've used chalk to chalk out the seams, which are the most important part of this metal roofing system. And we can see that we do have damages to the seams of the roof. And so this starts to compromise the integrity of the metal roofing system. And we do have those types of damages. Now on the shingle portion itself, we did what an adjuster would do, which is do a 10x10 test square on the roof and we circle all of the hail spots that we found. I didn't mark every single one, but I marked the minimum of 10 that would be looked for by insurance. Now what we're going to do now we're going to use this digital microscope. We're going to go up and look at what a healthy shingle should look like. This is basically a full face of teeth. So this protects the underlayment of the shingle. And then we go over to where a hailstone struck. You can see that we have the mat fractured in the shingle as well as the fiberglass exposed. So this becomes a pothole where water is able to soak through and go directly into the interior of the home. So as a license adjuster, I can help you guys through this process of talking through the insurance company. So for now, I'M going to step down so we can talk about those options. Thanks so much.
