How To Create a MetaMask Wallet (Easy)

Hi everyone, welcome again. Today I'll be showing you guys pretty quickly how to set up a MetaMask wallet. So this is a quick dry run or run-through demonstration of how you, you create a MetaMask wallet. For those who don't know what MetaMask is, MetaMask is a wallet like any other wallet that you can find out there for cryptocurrencies. MetaMask is mostly for Ethereum. So personally, I have MetaMask, but I hold in there Ethereum coins or Ethereum-based coins in there. So it's good also because I use it also to log into the metaverses that I'm, you know, going around. For example, Decentraland. I use Decentraland. I go on there and sometimes, you know, play around in there. So I have to use MetaMask to log into Decentraland. But MetaMask in short is a crypto wallet and gateway to blockchain apps. So you can use it to log in, you know, you buy, store, send, and swap tokens from there as well. So I'll do a quick run-through of how you set it up. So first of all, um, what you have to do is type in metamask.io, um, and make sure you type it in because sometimes there's some fake ones out there and they might catch you. It might not be io, it might be lo, so make sure you actually type it out the way it is. Once you're here, you click on download. Or if you, you know, if you wanna read up on it a little bit, you know, FAQs, get support, community, team, careers, blogs, all this stuff, you know. But if you wanna go straight to it, you click download. Just also so you know, they also have iOS app and Android app for this same MetaMask. I have both and I use them as well. So for Chrome, which is the browser that I'm using, I would click install MetaMask for Chrome. If you have Firefox, the same, they are supported, and Brave, and also Edge. I'm not sure who still uses Edge, but if you do, you know, don't mean to judge, but yeah, I don't know. I don't use it, but if you use it, you know, fine, whatever floats your boat. Let's do install MetaMask here for Chrome. Once you click that, it takes you to the extensions Chrome Web Store. So you click add to Chrome, or if you want, you know, you can watch this, click on the overview, read up on it a little bit if you're really into that, but click into add extension and And it's gonna add adding to Chrome. Give it a moment. Once it does that, boom! MetaMask has been added to Chrome. Use this extension, blah blah blah. Yeah, sure. So you come here to extensions, and you can find MetaMask here. You can pin it, and that way it shows up there all the time, which is great. And they have a really good UX. I like it. I like it. So. The first thing you'll get is welcome to MetaMask, connecting to Ethereum decentralized web. We're happy to see you. Okay, cool. You click started, get started, and here you have 2 options. You either, if you already have another MetaMask wallet before and you just want to log into the one on this browser, you can import the one that you have if you have your secret phrase, or if you want to create a new one, of which we'll do, we'll do create a new one here for us. If you already have one, you import. If you don't have, you create wallet. So what we're doing today is creating wallet. So click on create wallet. If you want to read this as well, help us improve MetaMask. If you want to, you know, you want them to track and let you help you improve, help help them improve the site, you can do that here. I'll do no thanks, and then you will be prompted to enter password. So regular should supposed to be eight minimum characters. You can add into you know special keys to make sure that you know. It's not easy to be deciphered or hacked in this way. So I'll put in mine for a second. All right, once you do that, you click I've read and agreed. Make sure you read it if you want to, then create and give it a moment. I'll bring you to this video Kind of explaining to you, you know, how to secure your wallet. It also describes to you what is a secret recovery phrase, which is a 12-word phrase that— more like your master key to your wallet and funds. So make sure you never enter that anywhere else on any other site, even if somebody begs you to do it. Do not give anybody this next phrase that you will see once we log in here. That's yours and yours alone. And yeah. Don't ever share it. People will just hijack your account and take all your money. Don't do that. After you watch this, they'll run through— yeah, so they'll give you a rundown of what it is, basically. Then here, they'll tell you, you know, secret recovery phrase. And so again, never disclose this to anyone, or they'll take your Ether or Ethereum forever. Forever. It'll be gone. Yes, take this seriously. So once you're ready, you click Reveal Password, and you'll get these 12 words of, you know, your super secret one that you should probably write it and put it in your safe in a piece of paper. Just don't save it on your phone, because if you lose your phone, then it's gone, or if somebody hacks your phone, you know, it'll be gone as well. So make sure you have it somewhere real safe. Back it up somewhere. I know there's options like The Ledger, and more of like a wallet that's not on your system basically. You just hook it up, it's like a USB drive, you hook it up and it reads your secret key from there. Depending on how you feel comfortable with, you can do that as well, get the Ledger and have it there, that's probably the safest way. But for now, if you wanna make sure you write it somewhere, keep it safe. Don't worry about this. I won't be using this wallet. This will just be for demonstration purposes, so don't even bother trying to get into this account because it won't have anything from my side. So just so you know, once you've copied it somewhere, you click next, and they will ask you to go back and confirm what you've— what you know. Basically, What you've— Alright, so once you have already copied this somewhere, you've written it down, you have it somewhere safe, you click Next. And on this page, they'll just make sure— they'll just make you reconfirm what you've already written down as your keys and just to make sure you have it correct. So we'll do— go ahead and do the clicking from here. To confirm. So drop arrow. And then we click confirm here. Congratulations, you passed the test. Keep your secret key safe, and they'll give you the tips here on how to do it. You know, back it up to different places, never share it with anyone, be careful of phishing and all that. And here we are. You know, we make transactions easier to read and blah blah blah. Read up on it if you want, but basically now you have your Ethereum wallet and you can receive ETH. And this is going to be your address up here. If you want to see it, maybe let me just— so this is your address right up here. And if you want to get your address, you can just view on Etherscan, and this will show you your account, which is this long address is your account. It could be your bank account. Think of it that way. That's your bank account. That's your account number. And that's how you You get money. That's where if you want to check the transaction that you've ever done from today, this is the address you would have to go check. But that's how you set it up. And you can also, on top of that, you can add other accounts within the main account using this. And it's going to use the same secret phrase. So for this one, we can name it as Account 2 or something. Account 2, and then Create. It'll take a moment. And here. So now you have 2 accounts. And you can create as many as you want. And just know that if your account gets compromised, your secret key gets leaked, or unfortunately somebody hacks you and accesses your account, so long as they have your secret recovery phrase, they can access all these accounts. So don't think, OK, hey, my account got drained for account 1. I can move some of my money to account 2. No. OK. They are able to get into all of it because they use the same secret phrase. So, um, yeah, just for your information. Um, but this is how to create it. This is your wallet, and if you add money in here, you will see your Ethereum popping up here. Um, you can also check activity. There's no activity as of now, but once you send money or, you know, buy money, buy NFTs, or do something, it'll show you the activity here. Um, and you can do buy, uh, If you want to deposit money in here, you can deposit, or if you want somebody to wire you money, they can either, you know, they can just, they just need your account here, your address information, your address. Once they have your address, they can send you tokens into your account. So, but that's how to set it up in short. Hope you guys enjoyed it and catch you guys on the next one.
