Short YouTube clip (March 30, 2024) by Trent (Trenton Luera), a former college quarterback, giving recruiting advice. He recounts a recruit who secured six campus visits in a single week across D2–FCS programs by proactively asking coaches questions. Main advice: recruits and families should ask clear, appropriately framed questions (not bluntly about offers) and take initiative — coaches often reward initiative and the recruit moved up recruiting boards.

One recruiter I work with got six visits lined up for one week. And this is exactly how he did it. And you can do it, too. First, if you don't know who I am, I'm Trent. I'm a former college quarterback, and I help recruits just like you get college football scholarships. So if you want daily content about how to get recruited to play college football, then be sure to follow. So, like I mentioned, one of my recruits I worked with, he's telling me that, hey, I got six visits lined up for one week with programs all the way from D2 up to FCS. And the crazy thing that got him all these visits is he just asked. That's issue with most recruits with most families is they get too scared during the recruiting process to just ask a coach what they really want. And I'm not saying to go up to a coach and ask, hey, am I going to get a scholarship offer? But just ask questions. And don't be afraid to ask questions that you might feel like, oh, is the coach going to be annoyed by this? Or am I going to look needy? You definitely can. But if you go about asking questions the right way, if anything, the coaches will appreciate you taking initiative. And that's exactly what happened with this recruit. He got bumped up pretty much every single board because he took initiative.
