Short YouTube clip by Trenton Luera (former college quarterback) arguing that the central factor in college football recruiting should be each athlete’s personal goals rather than external expectations or status. He advises athletes to honestly evaluate whether they want Power Five/D1 football or prefer schools that fit academic/career aims (e.g., pursue medicine/law at academically strong schools) and to avoid chasing offers solely for prestige.

This is the only thing that should matter in recruiting. And first, if you don't know who I am, I'm Tren Lower. I'm a former college quarterback. So be sure to drop a follow if you want more content like this. So the only thing that should matter in recruiting is your goals. And I'm not talking about someone else's goals, talking about your own goals. There's a big issue I see in recruiting. So everybody's trying to chase, like, what other people want to see from them. They're trying to chase status, they're trying to chase big time offers. And here's the thing, like, that's totally fine if you actually want to play power five football. You want to play group of five football, you want to play D1 football, but don't do it just because someone else thinks it's cool. And so you think it would be cool to do that. And this might take some soul searching. You might have to look internally and be like, dang, do I really actually want this? If you answer yes, then awesome, like, freaking go for it. But if your ultimate goal isn't to play in the NFL or to play D1, that's totally fine, you can go and do something else instead. I'm not saying stop playing football, but like, if your goal is like, you know what, like, I really like football. I just want a good college football experience. But really I want to go be a doctor or lawyer, then, hey, go to a high academic school.
