D2 is not the new D1

This new saying about college football recruiting is completely wrong. And this is for anyone that is a high school or juco or transfer player. The saying is D2 is the new D1. It's completely wrong. I recently put out a tweet about this and it completely blew up. A lot of people were arguing in the replies about how, oh, D2 is the new D1, this and that, about how transfers have affected the game. And I don't disagree with anything that they said necessarily. But the fact of the matter is I haven't seen any of the numbers about how less high school kids are getting recruited. I know with certain programs that is the case. There's a viral video from an SMU coach talking about how they're only recruiting seven high school football players. That isn't the case in every single college football program across the country. We have to remember that with Transfer Portal and Nils, we're still in the infancy of this stuff. We don't even know how things are really going to play out. Programs are testing new things. They think that the Transfer Portal might work out for them. It makes sense. Older mature players are probably going to play better than freshmen and sophomores, but we might see that that diminishes.
