Short YouTube advice from Trenton Luera (May 8, 2024) for football recruits on how to attract coach attention. Main claim: showing proof of ability via video is far more effective than long written messages. Recommendations: prioritize polished highlight videos to grab attention, and use supplemental videos (pro-day-style skill drills in shirts/shorts and workout clips) to display specific skills coaches may not see in game tape.

This is the key to getting a coach's attention and getting responses from coaches. It's really all about that you're even worth their attention. That's what a lot of recruits miss out on. They think they can prove their worth through words or through a long message. In reality, they need to see this proof most of the time through video or in person at camps too, which is why you get a lot of camp invites. And they try to get kids to their camps because they're looking for the top kid. But the best way and the easiest way and the most cost effective way is just doing this through video. Now the number one version of video you should be using is your highlights. So make sure your highlights look good. You're catching coaches attention right from the start, otherwise you're missing out on a big opportunity. And the second thing you can use is supplemental video. This is certain things. There's really like two different types of video that I like to use. Number one is like pro day workouts and stuff in like shirts and shorts, showing you do drills. It's really easy for skill positions to do because oftentimes you're holding the ball, catching, throwing, whatever it might be. Have to get a little bit creative on the defensive side of the ball, but just showing skills that you usually use in game that maybe you don't have a lot of tape on, but coaches want to see. And then the second type of video is workout video. So this is good if you.
