Short YouTube listicle (by Trenton Luera) describing the top five mistakes that hurt a student-athlete’s chance of earning a college football scholarship. Chunk 1 presents items #1–#3: (1) poor grades — benchmark guidance that anything below a 3.0 GPA is risky, aim for 3.0 minimum and ideally 3.5+, and note PE may not count toward core GPA; (2) a poorly managed Twitter profile — missing highlights/film, incomplete bio, not following coaches, making it hard for coaches to find needed info; (3) being disrespectful to a coach (issue raised but explanation cut off).

These are the top five recruiting killers that completely kill your chance of getting a college football scholarship. Number one is bad grade. Really? My benchmark is anything below a 3.0 GPA is not good, especially when you count the fact that you're probably counting in pe, which doesn't count as a core gpa. So you get really close to that minimum eligible requirement to get a scholarship offer. So your goal, bare minimum should be to get a 3.0 or above, ideally a 3.5 and above because it's an easy box check. Just take care of your schoolwork, get it done. Number two is a bad Twitter profile. This is just a crappy Twitter profile where you can't find the highlights. There's not really anything posted on there. You're not following coaches, your bio isn't set up correctly. These things are big opportunities that you're missing out on because coaches use Twitter all the time. They're going to try and search up your name if they're interested in you, if they can't even find you in the first place, or if they find you and then they can't find your film. They don't know how to access all the information that they need. Makes things really tough on them and they'll probably just skip to the next guy because they're not going to go scouring the Internet looking for the stuff that they need. Number three is being disrespectful to a coach. I talked about this the other day, but showing disorder.
