YouTube clip (creator: Trenton Luera) arguing that getting recruited for college football in 2025 is harder due to growing youth participation (more high-school players) and reduced college opportunities (transfer portal effects and Division I FBS roster cuts from 120 to 105). The video gives two primary pieces of advice: (1) markedly improve athletic/player development and (2) proactively get known by as many coaches as possible rather than 'playing and hoping' coaches find you.

Getting recruited in 2025 is harder than ever. Here's three reasons why. So the first one is youth sports is growing. There's been an increase in high school football players year after year, meaning there's more supply. And also the demand has decreased for high school football players with the transfer portal and roster spot reductions. With the Division 1 FBS level reducing the roster spots from 120 to 105, that means there's less opportunities than ever. So it's going to be hard. You need to stand out to get the scholarships that you ultimately want. So what does this mean if you're trying to get recruited in 2025? Number one, you have to be better than ever. You have to develop as a player, as an athlete. Number two, you have to make sure that you get known by as many coaches as possible. You can't just play well and hope coaches are going to find you because then you blend in with everyone else. So if you do those two things, you'll be in a good position to get recruited this year.
