A short YouTube commentary by Trenton Luera advising high school athletes who aim to play college football at a high level on whether to transfer schools. The speaker recommends transferring when there is a legitimate reason (e.g., coach dislikes you, lack of playing time), while cautioning against transferring for weak reasons or if the athlete lacks ability. Emphasis is on pragmatic decision-making rather than pride.

Should you transfer high schools coming from someone that understands the modern age of college football recruiting? And you should only listen to this if your goal is to play college football at a high level. Because if your goal is just have fun with your friends, stay at the school you are. Here's the truth. After talking to hundreds of families going through the process with certain families, you should absolutely transfer if you have a legitimate reason to transfer. Now, you may have this internal sense of pride and ego and say, no, no, no, I need to stay, I need to fight through it. And don't get me wrong, sometimes that helps. But realistically, if you feel like 100% and this is legitimate, that the coach does not like you, that something is happening, or even if you're just not even getting playing time, that is a legitimate reason to transfer. Of course, if you're terrible and you shouldn't be playing football in general, then don't transfer because you think you're getting playing time elsewhere. You do have to remember the grass isn't always greener on the other side, but oftentimes, getting a fresh start can help you. I've seen too many families go through this old school mentality of that you need to.
