A short YouTube monologue by Trenton Luera advising athletes how to DM college coaches. The speaker argues most recruits send low-status, generic messages (e.g., “check out my film,” “I’m a hard worker”) that coaches ignore. Instead, athletes should send high-status messages that make it easy for coaches to assess fit and see why they should recruit the player. The speaker cites personal experience sending thousands of DMs and offers a service/CTA to help.

Your DMs aren't getting replies because you're making this one mistake. Most athletes send low status messages, hey coach, check out my film. Or even worse, sub coach, I'm a dog. You have to realize that coaches get hundreds of those and they ignore each and every single one of them. Especially when they're saying subjective things like I'm a hard worker, I'm a leader. You want me in your program because every single other recruit says stuff like that and it means nothing to the coach. Instead, you want to send a high status message that that lets the coach decide whether they want to recruit you or not and also shows them why they should need you. You are trying to find coach to player fit. You want to be the player that fits, that kind of coach, that kind of program, that kind of school. So it makes it obvious for them to choose you and to actually recruit you. This puts you in control and makes the coach see you as a serious recruit. Now, in my recruiting process, I sent over thousands and thousands of DMs. So I learned a lot from some of the failures and mistakes I learned along the way. But if you want to skip ahead of the line, learn the secrets and let us handle it all for.
