Short YouTube recruiting-advice clip (creator: Trenton Luera) explaining that routine "just checking in" messages bore coaches and perform poorly. The speaker prescribes "value-based follow ups" — each follow-up must provide new proof of value (new film, improved stats, achievements) — and credits this strategy with generating 10+ offers for himself and 26+ Division I offers for an athlete named Jonathan. The clip ends with a promotional call-to-action to book a call.

In my recruiting process I tested every type of follow up message. Here's what doesn't work. Just checking in any updates. Hope all is well. It's definitely better than nothing, but these scream desperation and they just bore coaches. What works is what I call value based follow ups. Each message must contain new proof of your value, not just these same highlights over and over again. That means new game film, improved stats, recent achievements. These kind of follow ups allowed me to rack up over 10 offers in my senior year of high school and I wasn't a ranked kid and even was benched in my homecoming game. If you don't believe me, it's what got Jonathan over 26 Division 1 offers. The strategy Never follow up without bringing new value. This signals that number one, you're serious in the program and number two that you're the right guy for them. Especially if it's the right kind of value. Because coaches recruit players that they know are going to help their program, not just people that they're going to take a chance on.
