A short YouTube video by Trenton Luera giving practical advice for college football recruits on how to build highlight videos. The speaker argues recruits should avoid multi-second title screens (name, school, position) because college coaches have limited time—often only 30–60 seconds per tape—and instead put contact info (email, X) on-screen and start immediately with game action to maximize coaches' viewing of plays.

In recruiting highlight videos, you need to stop wasting coaches time with title screens. Now, a lot of people will tell you you need title screens and I think it makes sense in other sports, but for football it often just doesn't make sense. You see, most coaches are not going to randomly just watch your highlight video out of nowhere. They have over 100,000 other recruits in your class that they're looking at. And so most of the time they're filtering things down by things like height, weight, gpa, maybe even someone else's assessment of you. And so with that, they don't need the five seconds of what your name is, what high school you go to, or what your position is. They already know this stuff. And so especially when how limited a college football coach's time is, you're talking 30 seconds to a minute that they're going to watch your tape. Those five seconds, or especially if you're putting multiple of these title screens, you know, 5 to 10 seconds is valuable time that you're wasting. And so instead stop with the title screen front, load the information, your email and X and just get straight to the action so that way you can get more of the coaches time watching plays that they actually want to see.
