Short advice for high-school football recruits to ‘show, not tell’: coaches distrust self-reported metrics on social bios, so record video evidence of every measurable skill (times, lifts, drills). Building a documented stack of proof makes it easier for college coaches to evaluate fit and extend offers.

If you're expecting coaches to believe that you have a 4, 5, 40, just because you have it on your X bio, then you're completely wrong. Because here's the thing, every single other recruit is just putting random numbers on their X bio, whether they're true or not. And coaches don't believe you. And so you need to show proof of everything throughout your entire recruiting process. Now, the best way to do this is to show, don't tell through video. You want to video everything you can, every skill, every number that you're going to show, you need to have proof that backs it up. This verifies in the coach's mind that you can actually do what you're talking about. Puts you ahead of all the other recruits that say that have these times or these numbers and these skills, but don't actually show it. And when you build this undeniable stack of proof on top of each other, it just becomes easier for a college coach to go, okay, we know who this guy is. We've evaluated him that he's a fit for our program and makes it an easy offer for him. So the next time you run a 40, next time you do an impressive bench press, make sure you take out your camera, you record it so that way you can have it for future reference.
