A short YouTube monologue (creator: Trenton Luera) giving practical recruiting advice for aspiring college football players. The speaker uses a fishing metaphor to argue recruits should cast a wide net across the ~800+ college programs (D1, D2, D3, FCS, JUCO) rather than limit themselves to a small set of schools; he recommends outreach methods (emails, questionnaires, camps, Twitter DMs/posts) to discover fit and then narrow targets based on responses.

Recruiting is just like fishing. You put out your hook into the ocean of schools and you see who catches. Problem with most recruits is that they never put their hook into a big enough ocean to get the interest that they really deserve. So if you're trying to get recruited, don't fish in this tiny little pond where, hey, there's 10, 20 schools that you're like, oh, they should be an absolute fit for me. Then you don't hear anything. You get discouraged, you get frustrated. You're wondering, can I even play college football in the first place? Instead, put your your hook out there in the Ocean of the 800 plus schools out there and see what catches figure out. Hey, are you a D1 guy? Are you D2 guy or D3 guy or NA guy? Are you a juco guy? All those are fine, but you have to figure out which one is the right fit for you. And it's hard to tell if you're not out there fishing in that big ocean. So go, cast your hook out. Send emails, fill out questionnaires, go to camps, send Twitter DMs, post on Twitter, see who you catch, and then go from there. If you catch D2 and you really want to go FCS, then start casting your hook out to FCS specifically.
