A short YouTube monologue (by Trenton Luera) advising high-school athletes on the most important part of college football recruiting: the final choice of which school to sign with. The speaker warns that getting many offers or external perceptions are less important than selecting a school that fits one’s goals (playing time, education, NFL aspirations), because choosing the wrong school can lead to transferring and stalled progress.

The single most important piece of the recruiting process. It's not getting noticed by coaches. It's not the relationships that you build. It's the thing that happens at the very end. Which school do you sign to? Because you can literally get the attention of hundreds of college coaches. You can get hundreds of scholarship offers, and then you can come down to two schools. You're like, oh, both of these are so great. I don't know which one to choose. And you choose the wrong one. You end up completely hating it, and then next thing you know, you're out transferring, and then you completely get screwed and not end up getting the result that you want. I say this because too often people just worry about the amount of scholarship offers that they got or, you know, what the school looks like to everyone else instead of focusing on, like, what do you even want out of school? What's your goals? Like, what do you really need from a school? Because that's what should ultimately be important. I mean, I think that's what most of us play college football for, is because, like, we have this internal want to continue playing, to get a good education, hopefully play in the NFL someday. And a lot of people just lose sight of that for.
