A short YouTube video by Trenton Luera (uploaded March 13, 2024) in which a former college quarterback explains that much of college football recruiting happens behind the scenes—coaches may quietly track recruits for months without the recruit knowing—and reassures viewers that if they are active and displaying talent (e.g., posting on Twitter) they are likely already on coaches' boards even if they haven't heard anything yet. The speaker emphasizes persistence and visibility.

This is reality recruiting, coming from someone who's been through the process. I'm a former college quarterback, and I help recruits just like you get college football scholarships. So the biggest reality is just that recruiting. A lot of it happens behind the scenes. I can't tell you just personally, the amount of times where I've gone through the recruiting process. I feel like nothing's going on. All of a sudden, I get a random phone call from a coach. She tells me that they're going to offer me and that they've actually have me on their boards for months, and I've never heard their school before. On top of that, I'm sure there's even more, probably double the that amount of times that that's happened that I've been on somebody's board, they've been recruiting me, they've been following me, they've had interest in me. I just never had any idea that was even happening. Trust me, if you've gone through the process, if you're doing the right things, if you feel like, man, I'm just like, I have the talent level. I'm, you know, I'm getting, like, some things going, but I just feel like I'm not getting enough going. Like, I feel like I'm on nobody's board. You're on people's board. You just don't know yet. Especially if you're doing the right things. As far as posting on Twitter, getting yourself out there, if you have the talent, somebody's noticed it and somebody's added you to their board and is keeping in touch with you. Oh, they might not be direct.
