A short YouTube video by Trenton Luera (uploaded March 11, 2024) giving recruiting advice for high-school football players. The speaker argues players should not imitate the most naturally talented recruits because their recruiting path differs; instead, follow recruits who overachieved relative to their talent by using a superior process. The video emphasizes focusing on process and actions that exceed expectations as a practical route to college football scholarships when raw talent is limited.

If you're trying to get recruited, don't do what the most talented player did to get recruited. The reason why is because their process is going to be completely different than yours. They probably had an insane talent level, had insane film that they were just able to go through the process a lot differently. They were able to get stars, they were able to get all this media attention. Instead, who you want to listen to, who you want to follow, is the recruit who was decent as far as talent level wise. But instead his recruiting results exceeded far above his talent level because it's obvious that he did something right. He did something that allowed him to crush the recruiting process, to just exceed everybody's expectations of, of where he was going to land in the recruiting process compared to the kid who had the insane talent level, who had the insane film and just met expectations. And I'm not saying this to bash on kids who are super good and just have an easier recruiting process, because ultimately, if you want an easy recruiting process, the biggest thing that you can focus on is just your talent level. But at a certain point, everybody's talent level kind of maxes out. Everybody has a potential that they eventually get closer and closer to. A lot of people's ultimate goal out of playing high school football is to get a college football scholarship. And so if your talent level just isn't quite.
