Short YouTube video (transcript) by Trenton Luera advising athletes who aim to play Division I football that attempting to walk on is very unlikely to succeed—especially with NIL investments in scholarship players—and that attending a junior college (JUCO) for two years is a better pathway to earn offers. The speaker frames walking on as low-probability and positions JUCO as a practical alternative for playing time and exposure.

If your goal is to play D1 football and you're thinking about walking on, watch this first because you might have no offers at D1 schools and you might think, hey, I just got to try out or I'm going to go walk on the school and I'm just going to battle. I'm going to show them how good I can be and I'm going to become the next success story to, you know, start there. The issue is that's so extremely rare and there's a better option out there ultimately, like you have to think about it. They're literally investing, especially now with nil, they're literally investing money into these scholarship guys. They're telling me you're going to walk on, let's say first, like you make it through fall camp, you get on the team through a trial maybe and somehow end up not on the scout team and you're going to climb your depth chart through the ladder and beat out guys that are getting paid millions in deals, let's just say hundreds of thousands for small numbers, plus guys that are actually on scholarship. The chances of you doing that, pretty low. Again, I'm not saying it's impossible, like go for it if you really believe that. But the better option is going junior college, juco, two year school, whatever you want to call it. Because here's the thing, as a pwo, again, you're not getting anything invested in.
