A short YouTube video by Trenton Luera (former college quarterback) advising high-school recruits to develop a "recruiting brand" to help secure college football scholarships. Luera defines recruiting brand as the associations people make about you (who you hang out with, how you are seen) and clarifies that it is not the same as corporate-style influencer marketing. He introduces his credentials and promises practical guidance on what a recruiting brand is, how to build it, and common misconceptions.

If you're a recruit trying to get college football scholarships, you need to have a recruiting brand. I'm sure you've heard about branding of recruits and that's important in recruiting. But I'm going to explain to you exactly what it is, how you need to do it, and why it's not exactly what you think it is. First, if you don't know who I am, I'm Trent Loire. I'm a former college quarterback. Now I help recruits just like you get recruited to play college football. So if you like this content, be sure to follow for more. So the thing is, a lot of people think recruiting brand is like company marketing, that you need to have stories and news articles written about you. You need to be posting like you're some influencer. That's not what I'm talking about when I'm talking about recruiting brand. Because ultimately a brand is just the association of different things to you. So, for example, if you're seen a lot around, like a certain type of person, then you're going to get associated with that person. That's why people always say, like, be careful who you hang around with, because if you've seen a lot with them, then a lot of people are just going to be like, oh, you're just like so and so. The last thing you want is so and so to be some kind of loser person that nobody really respects, because you're going to also get no respect. And I can kind of give that example in, like, actual brand.
