A short YouTube recruiting-advice clip by Trenton Luera (uploaded Feb 15, 2024) explaining three simple questions athletes should ask coaches to be memorable and increase scholarship opportunities. Chunk 1 presents an intro and the first two questions: (1) "What are the next steps in the recruiting process?"—to get clear follow-up actions—and (2) "Do you see me as a scholarship player?"—to solicit honest evaluation of where you stand on a coach's board.

If you're struggling to talk to coaches, here are the three questions you need to ask to get them to like you. These questions are so simple, yet they will make coaches remember you and allow you to move further in the process with them, getting you to increase the amount of scholarship opportunities that you will get. Now, before we dive in, I post recruiting tips and tricks like this all the time, so be sure to give me a follow if you like this. Question number one is what are the next steps in the recruiting process? Now this is a great one to wrap up a conversation because most of the time what happens is you go up to the coach, shake his hand, you talk for a little bit, maybe ask some random question about their offense or defense, and then they're like, oh hey, stay in touch, follow me on Twitter. And then you never hear from them again. Instead, you're going to want to get clear next steps on exactly what to do so that way you can move forward in the process with them. Otherwise you're going to end up confused and wondering why you didn't move forward in the process at all with them. Question number two is do you see me as a scholarship player? Now this is a great one to ask once you have a little bit of a relationship built up. If they haven't brought up scholarships or where they see you on their board, this is a great question to ask because if you get an honest answer, then you hey, you know you're dealing with a good coach that's just being upfront with you. But if they give you some wishy washy answer like, oh, maybe.
