Trent Lore (a former college quarterback) advises high-school recruits to proactively reach out to college coaches to increase scholarship opportunities rather than relying solely on on-field performance or their high-school coach. He recommends using channels like Twitter DMs (his personal favorite), email, and camps, and suggests sending personalized message templates to multiple coaches.

This is exactly what you need to do to get more scholarship opportunities. Because here's the thing, scholarship opportunities are not going to just come out of thin air. Doing this one thing will get you talking to more coaches and getting you more scholarships first before we dive in. I'm Trent Lore. I'm a former college quarterback and now I help kids just like you get college football scholarships. So this one thing that you need to do is reaching out to college coaches. Too many recruits out there. Just think that, hey, I'm going to do super well in the field, ball out, and then college coaches are going to start flocking to me. I'm going to get stars, all this and hey, that might work out for you. I hope it does. But most of the time it doesn't play out like that. This whole saying, playing well and they'll find you, it's just a complete lie. You need to become known by college coaches by doing directly, not relying on luck or hope or your high school head coach. So you need to reach out to them directly. You can do this in a lot of different ways. You can use Twitter, you can use email, you can go to camps. All those are great ways to get in front of college coaches and get recruited. My personal favorite is Twitter DMs. You can just write a quick message template, make sure to change the name and the school for the according coach and program, and then just send it to them and send it as many college coaches.
