A short YouTube clip by Trenton Luera giving three concise tips for making highlight videos to attract Division I college football coaches: (1) open with your best play to hook coaches quickly, (2) show your full skill set (e.g., multiple routes, all throws for QBs), and (3) exclude plays that reveal weaknesses so the tape presents you at peak performance.

So you want to go D1. How do you even do that in the first place? Well, first up is making sure that your highlights are as good as possible. And here are the three things that I've noticed. Make the best highlight videos. Number one is putting your best place first. Because you need to make sure to catch a coach's attention. They're probably going to watch the first 30 seconds, maybe a minute max. So if you're not putting your best place first, you're missing out on plenty of opportunities. And there's thousands and thousands of recruits on there they can just pass up on you. Go to the next. Second is you need to make sure to show all of your skill set as much as possible. It's great if you show up a little bit of your tackling ability or just a little bit of your catching ability, but why not show all of it plus your route running ability, plus, you know how you can run different routes. For example, as a quarterback, you need to show that you can make all the throws as much as possible to prove to a coach that, hey, I can play at a high level consistently. And the third thing is don't show any weaknesses. Your highlight tape is just supposed to be you at your best. They can go and get more tape on you from your coach. You just want to show them you at your best so that way you can pique their interest. That's all they're looking for, is you at your highest, highest level. Otherwise.
