A short YouTube video by Trenton Luera advising high-school recruits how to increase phone interactions with college football coaches. Core advice: explicitly ask coaches for phone calls instead of passively waiting; phone conversations—even five minutes—raise a recruit’s visibility on coaches’ boards and often lead to increased interest, camp invites, and visits. The video emphasizes initiative and straightforward wording (e.g., “Would you be open to hopping on the phone call sometime soon?”).

Exactly how to get more phone calls with college coaches. Now, this may be shocking to you, but you just have to ask. I talked about this yesterday with visits. You just have to ask in the first place. Too many recruits don't ask. And they just wait and hope that, hey, hopefully you'll give me a call. Hopefully, you know, he'll think of me. You're thinking of it like it's some girl instead of just another guy who's older than you that's at a place that you want to go to in the first place. So why not show that you're interested, take initiative and stand out from everybody else by being like, hey, Coach, you know, would you be open to hopping on the phone call sometime soon? Literally. As simple as that. And stuff that I've done with the recruits that I've worked with, that has drastically improved the amount of interest and the level of interest that they get. Because there's a difference between just having a conversation over text and having even just a five minute conversation over phone call. And oftentimes, by having a phone call, you immediately go up on their board and it'll lead to camp invites, visits, and so on. So the next time you get a response from a coach, you're not too sure where to go, just ask if they're open to having a phone call.
