Former college quarterback Trenton (Tren) Luera introduces a parents' guide to college football recruiting, framing the video as his personal reflections on what his parents did well and what could've been improved. He emphasizes the importance of having early, open conversations with your son about recruiting and future goals—ideally starting as early as middle school—to reduce fear and clarify expectations.

This is the parents guide to college football recruiting. If you don't know who I am, I'm Tren Lohr. I'm a former college quarterback. And though I'm not a parent, I had very supportive parents throughout the recruiting process, and I think they did a lot of things right. Though there's a couple things I reflect back on that we probably could have done better. Not just my parents, but also myself. And hopefully I can share my experience from an athlete's perspective to make your job as a parent a lot easier. So the number one thing I recommend to all parents is to have open dialogue about recruiting with your son. The issue is, I feel like it's not necessarily a touchy subject, but, like, it just is such a. It can be such a deep and scary conversation. We're talking about the future. You're talking about, like, oh, shoot, like, you're starting to go out on your own. You're going to have to make your own choices. And it's good to have an open conversation as early as possible, really. Like, I wish I would have had a deeper conversation with my parents about this stuff, probably even in, like, middle school, really, just explaining to them what my goals are actually are, because.
