How to use this psychological hack to get scholarships

Trenton Luera explains the bandwagon effect: once you get your first scholarship offers, other coaches notice and pile on. Recruiters see popularity as a signal that you're worth their attention.

So I've been talking a lot about why the first scholarship is so hard and why it gets easier after this. And so today I'm talking about the bandwagon effect, how you can use it to your advantage and why it kind of goes on that second piece of why it's so easy after you get that first one. And so the bandwagon effect, if you don't know, is the reason why the Chiefs, for example, they've won two Super Bowls back to back. It's the reason why everybody now is a Chiefs fan, or at least it feels like, because people want to be surrounded with winners. They want to be with people that are successful. It's the same reason. Same with the Mobi teams. The sport team is a very common example of that. Same when a band blows up, an artist blows up, everybody, some somehow seems to be supportive of that artist and band because they want to be associated with something that is successful, something that people, everybody likes. And so it's the same way in recruiting. Just a psychological thing is that when somebody's getting a bunch of offers, other coaches want to be in that. Of course, you have to remember that, hey, if you're getting a bunch of NA level offers, like, is a D1 coach going to go, oh, we need to jump on this? No, but the next level up, a D2 might be interested in that, but it definitely plays into the D1 level. If you're getting offers from Group of 5 schools, Power 5 schools are going to start to look at you more. In the group of five schools are going to look at you even more as well. And then if you get Power 5 offers, of course more schools and more schools are going to look at you. And you're pretty much going to get a bunch of schools at that point, if you play it right. And so that's the key is getting that first offer. And so just in this diagram, you'll see I have a couple college coaches. There's you in the middle, you've been offered by four, and here's your next one kind of looking on the outside like, oh, shoot, like we need, we need him because he's surrounded by four coaches compared to, let's say there's another kid over here that's only surrounded by one or two or has none. Of course they're gonna, their eyes are gonna go to the person that they're most surrounded by. Think about when they're doing the media interviews, too. Most of the news reporters are surrounded one guy for the most part, and they're focused on them. And so it's the same way with with offers and scholarships and everything like that. When coaches and a staff see one guy getting off more than everybody else, they're more likely to offer that guy. They're more likely to pay attention to that guy. They're more likely at least to show some interest to that guy because there's so much proof around that there's a large association of success and winning and stuff like that around that kid, regardless of what you may think about his film or his height, his weight, whatever it might be, his skills, but the fact that he has that behind him of scholarship offers, which signify the most highest form of proof that schools are ready to invest into you, that is why that is so powerful. So quick explanation about this. Just a little psychological thing that I want to share with you guys and keep pushing and I'll see you later. Peace.
