So if I was going back through the recruiting process, this is what I would do step by step. And if you don't know who I am, I'm Trent Lawyer. I'm a former college quarterback. So be sure to subscribe follow for more content like this. But essentially I went through the recruiting process out of high school. I only started like 10 games in juco. I only started five games in two years there, but still was able to get multiple scholarship offers and ended up committing to one of the top NA schools. So I shared this with you so that way you can correct these mistakes. Because despite that, despite the lack of film that I had and lack of playing time, lack of stats, still was able to get multiple scholarships, still had a good experience, but I could have maximized that a lot more. And I want you to fix these mistakes so you can crush it even more than I did. And so step one, the big one, is just changing your mindset. I did this pretty well, but there's definitely a few things I could have shifted. And a lot of it was around being too scared to put myself out there because of what maybe coaches would think of me or other people would think of me. But ultimately it doesn't matter what other people think. You have to put your goals in front of anything else if you really want to get recruited to play college football. And so you have to be able to put yourself out there to gain exposure. Maybe uncomfortable, but you have to do it. It's just a mandatory part of recruiting. And so just changing your mindset on top of that wall, also changing it to that recruiting is also a game. It's. It's a game outside of what you do on the football field. A lot of people think that just because you play well, they'll find you. And that's just not true in today's world. You have to do other things to be able to get recruited. Because if it was just, hey, you can play well and directly correlates to recruiting, then every. There would be no overlooked recruits. So you have to change your mindset around that stuff. Step two is I would post on Twitter one to two times a week. I definitely didn't post enough on Twitter when I was getting recruited. And the few times I did posted, well, I'd get interest from it and build relationships around that stuff. And so you have to make sure that you're posting stuff that only makes people say wow, especially coaches. You want to post stuff that makes coaches say wow. It's a very simple framework to keep in mind, but a Lot of people post average stuff and that doesn't really get you recruited. That doesn't catch anyone's attention. So it won't do well on Twitter in the first place. On the top of it, a coach sees it, they're not going to want to recruit you off of that. So make sure you're posting your best to best stuff. Step three is you want to spend 30 minutes a day on recruiting. Like at least bare minimum. Because the key is you want consistent action. That's it, just consistent action. It's a numbers game. And so if you stay consistent with it, just spending 30 minutes a day will go a long way. Two, four, eight weeks down the line, you'll realize how much those 30 minutes a day really added up. And of course you, you can do more, but that's the bare minimum. And so for myself, I think I could have spent a lot more time. I did spend a lot of time, but just could have been more consistent with it. And so consistent action is key. If you could do that the right way, I mean, that'll, that'll help you recruit probably more than anything else. And I'm going to mention step four is go to as many camps as possible. And of course don't want to overdo it, but camps are a great opportunity to go showcase your skills to college coaches outside of games. Because really, if you think about it, like, coaches don't see recruits in person outside of camps. Like they sometimes go to games. Yes, but that's pretty rare. And usually they're going to games for their top recruits. So if you're not one of those top recruits, you're not going to get evaluated outside of your film. And so this is a way to show case your skills to them in person. And so it's definitely worth it. The key though is to make sure to pick your camp schedule carefully around schools that you actually have a chance to get interest from or that you have interest from initially and then just try to maximize your exposure from there. The last step, step five is building a brand. If you want your recruiting to blow up, if you want to do extremely well, you need to do things differently. And yes, you need to be good on the field. It's absolutely essential part of the process. But if you can find a way to build a brand around you, and I don't mean in this like logo type way, but just get people to know who you are and how you're different from everyone else, you will have a huge advantage in your recruiting and just doing those five things, changing your mindset. Step step one posting on Twitter one or two times a week step two step three spending 30 minutes per day on recruiting. Step four going as many camps as possible and step five building that brand. I mean you're going to crush the recruiting process and especially if you're starting from early in your senior year, I'd say if you're starting, if you're going into your junior year and you're doing this, there's no question in my mind that you'll have multiple scholarship offers come your senior year. So you just have to stay consistent with this stuff. It's not going to change overnight. But if you consistently do this for months on months, you will see the changes and the effects that they'll have on your recruiting and you'll be crushing it like no other. So hopefully this helped.
