Tren Lower (a former college quarterback) explains that the tight end position is harder to get recruited for than many expect. He argues recruiting depends on team needs and graduating classes, making tight end recruitment similar to — or harder than — quarterback recruiting because teams need fewer tight ends. He also offers a free spreadsheet of 6,000+ college coaches' emails via Instagram DM.

This one position that everyone thinks should be easy to get recruited is sneakily harder than you might think. If you're new here and don't know who I am, I'm Tren Lower. I'm a former college quarterback so be sure to follow for more content like this. And also if you want a free spreadsheet of 6,000 plus college coaches emails, then all you have to do is DM me the word emails on Instagram I'll send to you for free. So the one position I'm talking about is tied in now. I've seen people say in the past that, you know, if you want to play at the D1 level, then tight end is a good spot because it's hard to find guys that have the size, that have the receiving ability and the blocking ability. I definitely agree with that. You can be hard high level tight end and you just needed to be pretty good at those three areas because it's hard to do and there's not a lot of people that can do it. But the problem is you have to think about the thing is with recruiting, they're not just recruiting anyone who's good, they're recruiting based on needs for a position and for a grad year. And tight ends very similar in quarterback honestly. Worse and harder than quarterback honestly because you don't need many tight ends, you're not recruiting a ton. Tight ends compared to like let's say receivers or DBs or off.
