Think getting a full ride scholarship to play college football is easy? Think again. Here's the real truth on scholarships across divisions. You won't believe the difference. Let's start off with D1 FBS football schools. So these are power five and group of five schools like Alabama and USC. These schools offer 85 scholarships. Full rides cannot be broken up into half or quarter scholarships. Next is D1 FCS football. These schools get 63 total scholarships so they can be broken up to be split amongst the team. In D2 football they get 36 scholarships. Again that can be broken up and split Amongst the team. D3 offers zero athletic scholarships. A lot of recruits don't know this about D3 schools. They only offer either academic or needs based scholarships. The last division is NAIA and they offer 24 scholarships. Again these can be broken up and split once a team. This means it's extremely rare to get a full ride FCS and below. So if you do get one don't take it lightly.
