A coach tells high school football players not to commit to a scholarship offer on the call it's made. Instead, ask three questions: is it immediately committable, what does it cover financially, and how many roster spots are open at your position.
Chapters
Never commit on the same call you get the offer. The moment you're most excited is the worst time to make one of the biggest decisions of your life. Instead, say, Coach, I really appreciate this offer and I'm excited about it. I want to talk it over with my family first. When do you need an answer? But don't stop there. Before you commit, ask these 3 questions. Question number 1, is this offer committable right now? You can get an offer and still not have an actual spot you can accept. Question number 2, can you explain what the offer covers? Find out if it's a full ride or a partial and what you'd still pay out of pocket. Question number 3, how many players are you taking at my position? Because if there's one spot left and another player commits first, your timeline just changed. Now you know whether the offer's real, what it's actually worth, and how long you really have to decide. So don't commit because you feel pressured. Commit when you actually know it's the right school. I break down the recruiting game most people never figure out in time. So follow and I'll help you get recruited.
