A short YouTube clip (by Trenton Luera, uploaded May 6, 2024) advising prospective college football recruits to verify whether a scholarship offer is 'committable'—i.e., would the school honor a verbal commitment now. The speaker warns that programs increasingly issue offers provisionally (due to ranking boards and higher-priority recruits), so some offers may not be real guarantees.

This is the number one question you want to ask when you receive a scholarship offer. And even if you don't have any scholarship offers, you're going to want to listen to this because when you finally do, you're going to want to ask this question, otherwise you might be making a big mistake. And this question is simply, is this a committable offer? And so what that means is if you committed right now to that school, verbally committed, would they honor that? AKA is it a real offer? Even the first place? Because a common thing right now is offers are kind of thrown out with a lot more ease than they have in the past. They're almost just like a really high sign up interest because there's obviously a ranking board. And so these offers go out and some kids are higher on the board and they want them more and some kids are lower on the board, but they still offer them because they're extending the scholarship offer. They think that, hey, we really like this kid, we would totally want them on our team. But yeah, we have, you know, two, three, four kids above you. And so if that kid ended up saying, oh yeah, I really like your school, I'll commit, they would probably tell them, no, we can't honor it because we still.
