Short YouTube monologue by Trenton Luera arguing that kicker and punter positions are the hardest in college football to earn a scholarship for. Luera claims punters rarely receive scholarships unless they are among the nation’s best, that many Division I teams use walk-ons at kicker, and that it’s common for kickers to earn scholarships mid-season only after proving themselves.

This is easily the hands down hardest position to get a scholarship in. And it's just not even close. If you disagree with me, then you're completely wrong. The position I'm talking about is kicker or punter. Definitely punter. Like there's nobody who is only a punter that is getting scholarships. Unless you're one of the top punters in the nation. And a lot of people will come out here and say, oh, being a kicker, so easy, everyone can do it. And all these kickers are so bad. This and that. And like, they don't even deserve scholarship, yet they still get them. Here's the reality about college football. You have guys at the D1 level that are starting kickers that are walk ons. What other position at the D1 level can you say that about? Yeah, maybe you'll have a rare walk on. Come on. They ball out their starter and then they get put on scholarship, like halfway through the year. With kickers, it's just common that they're a walk on. Like most D1 teams have one, maybe two scholarship guys. Two's rare. And that scholarship guy is the kicker. He's pretty damn good. So they put him on scholarship and then everybody else.
