Coaches cross off thousands of recruits before watching a single highlight. Here's why coaches get thousands and tens of thousands of recruits to evaluate so the first filter is measurables. That means if you don't meet their minimum requirements, then they might not even take a look at you. For example, a Division 1 FBS coach told me that they don't look at tight ends shorter than six foot. So that means if you're a six' three tight end, you're immediately getting crossed off that list. Now, if you don't meet these kind of measurable standards, that's okay, you can still make it to that level, but you have to be extremely exceptional elsewhere. Because everyone likes to cite different examples of where height or weight was lacking. You could say a guy like Devonte Smith, who doesn't weigh as much as what people might think for a receiver, or Tyreek Hild, who isn't really as tall as some other guys, but they make up for that area in certain other aspects faster, they're stronger, they have better film show better ability than a lot of other guys that that are the expected height and weight. But remember, at the end of the day, measurables get you noticed, performance gets you offered because.
