Short video by former college quarterback Trenton Luera explaining how to build a realistic but aspirational college football recruiting game plan to maximize scholarship opportunities. He emphasizes balancing realism (targeting likely division levels like D2, FCS, FBS) with upside (not limiting outreach) and warns families often over-focus on upside and miss realistic targets.

This is the key to creating a solid recruiting game plan to get you scholarship off. If you're new here and don't know who I am, I'm Trent or I'm a former college quarterback, so be sure to follow for more content like this. So a good recruiting game plan has a mix of realism and upside. So what I mean by that is you need to be somewhat realistic, like identify what your most likely potential landing spot is, whether that's D2FCs, D1 FPS, and make sure that you're being realistic with what that is. Then of course you want upside in there. You don't want to just limit yourself to that. Because what if you say you're an NIA player but really you're like an FCS player and then you don't reach out to any FCS programs and so you never really get to get that chance to go higher in division level. The issue is most families though go too heavy on the upside of things and they don't play the realistic part. And so when they finally do get realistic, they end up getting the scraps left over by the people that actually targeted those schools early on. That's what you don't want to end up with. If I had to give a percentage mix like you probably want to play.
