You want to play D1 football (Watch this)

Trenton Luera delivers a motivational monologue aimed at athletes and parents about pursuing Division 1 and NFL football goals. Using personal anecdotes (being benched in high school, taking the junior college route) and examples of peers, he argues persistence and optimism—combined with matching actions—are crucial; practical pathways like junior college and the transfer portal make opportunities more attainable than before.

Let's talk about dreams, because I imagine you're going through this recruiting process, and maybe you're a parent, you're thinking, shoot, is my son's dreams unrealistic? And maybe you're an athlete going through the process, you're thinking, shoot, is my dreams unrealistic? Maybe you've been told that your dreams are unrealistic and that going to want to play college football to. Going to want to play Division 1 level, going to want to play at the NFL level is just too unrealistic and that you should be more realistic. Just try to get school paid for, just try to get good grades, try to get academic scholarships, and that you shouldn't be chasing after this big thing. And so I want to talk on that, because to me, I went through the process with my dreams in mind. I continue to push forward. I see a lot of people have the same dreams and aspirations, and then something kills them. And it's frustrating to me. Biggest thing you have to remember is keep your dreams. If you want to play the Division 1 level, if you want to play in the NFL, do everything you can to continue doing that. The ones who get there are, yes, the ones that are extremely talented and the path comes maybe a little bit easier to them, but also it's the ones that never quit. That's something I realized in my journey. I wasn't the best player in high school. I really wasn't a starter starting quarterback in my high school for most of my career. I got benched my homecoming game my senior year to another kid. I didn't even start my last game in the playoffs because I felt like the other guy was more helpful. And I mean, that. That gave me a lot of doubt to whether I would have my dreams accomplished or if I could make it happen. And the thing I realized is that it's just all about sticking it out. I stuck it out. I continued playing. I went the junior college route, and that gave me the opportunity to continue pursuing my dreams. And I saw at the junior college route that a lot of these guys were just doing the same thing, pursuing their dreams. They were pushing harder. And, you know, some of those people said they had the dreams and they fell off. Well, the guys that really wanted it stuck around. And then, you know, you get to the next level and you realize it's the same thing at, you know, whatever school you're going to, it's the same thing there. It's guys that, you know, stuck with their dream. And so whether people are telling you, hey, and you got to be more realistic. Hey, man, like, you know, that's. I don't think you can get that done. Don't. You don't have to prove them wrong. Just say, okay, and just keep doing what you're doing. Because if you truly want it, then you will find a way. And I really do believe that. I think that's what a lot of my content is around is just like, hey, here's the path to do it. If you really want it that bad, there's a way to do it. Go and go and do it, and it's a way that anybody can accomplish it. I truly, truly do believe that. We've seen that with a bunch of different situations. I mean, we've got guys that, you know, didn't even play their senior year of high school. The. They're getting opportunities to go play college football. Now, they may not be the best opportunities. I'm not saying they're going to Alabama, but there are opportunities to continue. Especially in this world where there's a transfer portal and you can transfer around and do all these crazy things. You can see guys going, I had a buddy of mine that just went from Division 3 school in Wisconsin to. He's now at Boston College. Like, that was not happening a couple years ago, and now it is. So the opportunities to continue your dream to play at the highest level, to go to the NFL, to do what you dreamed of when you were younger, is more realistic than ever. And so don't let people kill your dreams. I love my content. I will say, like, hey, you gotta, you know, be open to all levels, and you gotta, you know, see more of a real point of view. And I think there's important. There's important parts to being pessimistic, to being more realistic, but you have to be extremely optimistic if you actually want to accomplish your goals. You actually want to accomplish your dreams. And so be that optimistic one. You have to be the most optimistic one because no one else is going to do it for you. And also, you have to truly want it. Like, everybody can say their dream. I can't tell you the amount of times that I've heard, like, this is my dream to play Division 1 football. This is my dream to play college football. And you just don't see it. Like, at the junior college level, we saw that all the time. All these guys are saying, oh, yeah, I'm a Division 1 guy. And they just, you know, would stop showing up to practice and never play football again. So, like, your words mean nothing. And that's also why A lot of people, you know, come in with these, you know, expectations of someone and say, hey, it's unrealistic. You can't get that done because just, I mean, chances are you're just not going to get done. And so you can't get mad at anybody for saying, hey, this is unrealistic or that's not going to happen because they're just playing the odds. And you know what, they're probably right most of the time. But you're there to be the one person that's right on your, on your side. And so hopefully you're taking this moment to realize that like you can do what you set up to accomplish and I'm, I'm rooting for you. And the same thing if you're a parent, like, be that realistic person in their life. Of course I'm sure you want what's best for them, but also don't kill what their dreams are and their aspirations are. And I'm sure you're not trying to or nor do you want to or nor you are you actively doing so. But no, be, be somewhat of a realistic person but also try to find ways to support them throughout that process. And yeah, it's just something that's on my mind. See a lot of like negative kind of content on X especially and I just didn't want to contribute to that. I think it's important for people to continue doing what they, they want to do and shoot, you know, why not try and go accomplish your dreams especially again, you actually want it. Your actions have to match your words and your thoughts. But if they do, like, why not you? So hope you enjoy this one. I'll see you in the next one. Peace.
