The first 2 races, Great Oaks the fastest team time ever, and now Blueberry Park the second fastest team time ever, just 6 seconds behind Great Oaks.
Let's go, Tori!
Cortez, Gaitan, Rodriguez all right up front. Looks like the freshman from Upland going out very quickly, Riley Rodriguez leading that group. Oy, Ariaga, the white top, the blue shorts there of Walnut. Ariaga, this This is her senior year, has finished in 3 previous years, first twice and second once, so trying to stay in that top 2, but large group there. See Frias, the freshman from Mira Costa, up in that group. Cortes and Gaetan and Griffiths of Great Oak all right up in there. Devin Candele of Vista Mira up well also. Everybody in that group, we're heading to the mile, a very quick first mile here for the Girls Division 1.
5:36, Chloe! Good job, Chloe! Go, Emma! Girls in Division 2 went through the first mile at 5:37.
5:37 for that large pack here. Now getting into that second loop. And it's still a group leading out front of that group. Looks like Forteza Gaitan of Great Oak and Chloe Arriaga of Walnut pushing the pace there.
Back, good job, stay together, girl. Come on.
Gaitán and Cortés, top-ranked team in the state. Great Oak going after their 6th straight state championship this year and running very well. Ariaga right on their shoulder.
Let's go, Josh! You gotta want it! Start pushing!
And it looks like the sophomore Jacqueline Delordi of Chino Hills has joined that front 3. They're separating a little bit. They went by the mile and a half at about 8:37.
Good job, Allie! Allie, we need you here! One at a time, Allie! One at a time, Allie! Come on!
And a little bit of a 4-person lead group, not much of a lead here. Leighton and Cortes of Great Oak, Oriaga of Walnut, Gordy of Chino, and Hills, Riley and Candelli. Riley of Upland, Candelli of Vista Murrieta. Griffiths right there with them, so 3 of the top 6. Emma Arriaga moving up well, she is in 8th now. So our 4, that lead group, Gaetan and Cortes pushing the pace. Camarilla right on the shoulder, DeWorthy, a little bit of a gap to Rodriguez of Upland, Griffiths of Murrieta. Castamontes moving up well.
All right, at 1.6 miles into the race, Great Oak with a dominating lead over Southwestern League rival Vista Murrieta. And then the battle, real tight battle here.
Mira Costa, Fountain Valley, Redondo, Ayala, and West Ranch all in that mix.
Again, this is before 1 3/4 of a mile. And Guiton, your early leader, with her teammate Cortes of Great Oak. Great Oak with a 36 point lead here, 1 and 2/3 of a mile into the race.
Good job, good job, St. Clemente!
Good job, good job! Those 4 moving up, and they— little bit of a gap.
They're not all together anymore as they hit the 2-mile mark at about 11:20.
A little bit of a gap Now Gaetan making a move, the junior from Great Oak. Cortes is our defending champion in this division, the senior who is committed to Cal last year. And now they make that turn now going to the far north end of the course. Gaetan with about a 5-meter lead over Ariaga, who has about a— And then a little bit more over Cortes, and then the sophomore from Chino Hill, Jacqueline DeLucchi, right there running with the big girls. Those 4 have separated themselves.
You're okay, you're okay, you're okay. You're okay.
See Emma Arriaga in that second group, Ariana Griffiths of Bredo, and Candeli, uh, Vista Mireta, and still the freshman from Oak Point hanging right in there, Riley Rodriguez.
Time!
About 10 minutes remaining. There's a 4-yard yardage, still only about 10 minutes Cortez and DeWorty, those 4 running very quick. And as it has been a record-setting mini morning, again Cortez is our Division 1 course record holder at 16:27. So we're on pace to break that one also.
Go now, Mikayla, go now!
And Fatima Cortes trying to come back a little bit on Chloe Arriaga. We mentioned a little earlier, Chloe Arriaga in her 4th year here, never worse than 2nd place in this championship final and running 2nd right now. But our leader, Tori Guiton, the junior from Great Oak, the Southwestern League champion this year. 10:20 for 3200 meters on the track last year, 5th in the state meet in track, and running very well here today, pushing that pace here now with just about 800 meters to go.
Nice shot, let's go now! Nice shot, nice shot! Let's go, let's go!
And they continue to open up that lead. She's now got about 30 meters to go. Cortes still just about 10 meters behind Ari Furiaga. She's running in third, and DeWorty about 5 meters there and making the turn. 500 meters to go. Tori Gaetan of Great Oak. Yeah, Great Oak! Makes the turn in second. Cortes right there in third, and DeWorty— they have separated themselves, but Gaetan picking up. Less than 400 meters to go, and she's at 15:25.
And Emma Ariaka moving very well.
Walnut trying to make it to the state meet for the first time in school history as a team here and have two runners there in the top 6. Rodriguez of Upland, Casimanes of San Clemente in that top 8, and Ariana Griffiths gives Great Oak 3 of the top 9. And now heading for home, great last mile there for Tori Gaytan, the junior from Grail, top-ranked team in the state. And here she is making the turn, heading for home, we're at 16:30. And heading for home, Tori Gaytan will be the Division I Southern Section champion. A good battle, Arriaga and Cortez for second and third. Gaetan crosses the line as the winner. Arriaga will finish her career never having finished higher than second or lower than second place. Cortez in third, Doherty in fourth, Candelli in fifth, Rodriguez in sixth, Griffith in seventh, and Emma Arriaga will finish in eighth. Michaela Ramirez of Ayala in 9th, and the winning time, 16:42.2.
2018 CIF Division I champion there. She runs the third fastest time in Division I history. Chloe Arriaga, two first place, two runner-up, and on her way to UC Davis next fall. Now Great Oak, the first with five across. They were your overwhelming favorites coming in, but Vista Murrieta right there with them. Right now, Great Oak, the only squad with five across the line. Maradona with 4 in the top 15.
Keep walking. Don't stop, ladies.
Let him out, let him out.
Keep walking, keep walking. All right, ladies, let's go, ladies. Keep walking, please. All the way through.
And here we go with the girls division 2. Girls division This will be the second call for girls— our boys Division 3 set to go at 9:05. Boys Division 3, you have 20 minutes till the start of your race.
I'm going back to Division 1 girls. Great Oak, they will be your team champions once again. Vista Murrieta in second, Mira Costa in third, Fountain Valley fourth, West Ranch fifth. Walnut, they will make their way to the state meet as a team this year, not just the twins.
They take takes 6th.
And right now, Ayala in 7th place. Again, these are unofficial, folks, unofficial. With the Ayala, Walnut, West Ranch, Fountain Valley, Mira Costa, Vista Marietta, and Great Oak making their way to the state meet.
And Girls Division 2 passing the first quarter. The leaders are defending state and Southern Section champions in this race. Claremont, winners of the Palomares League this year.
