In this solo episode of the Uncommon Excellence Podcast recorded on October 12, 2026, 17‑year‑old host Liam Applegate reflects on his recent milestone of surpassing 1,000 podcast downloads and outlines a personal time‑capsule series inspired by MrBeast’s “Hi Me in 10 Years” video. He explains the concept of recording “Hi Me in X Years” messages—ranging from one year to a potential hundred years—to track his growth and future aspirations. Liam shares his current stats (1,080 downloads, ~20 Spotify followers), immediate plans (taking a gap year, aiming for 5,000–10,000 downloads and around 70–75 episodes within a year), and long‑term vision of turning the podcast into a business, conducting interviews, and eventually creating a 100‑year legacy recording. Throughout, he expresses enthusiasm, optimism, and a belief that the podcast is a lifelong journey.

Hello and welcome to the Uncommon Excellence Podcast. And today is October 12th, and I was recently watching MrBeast's Hi Me in 10 Years video. It came about, or it came out about, I want to say 6 days ago, and, uh, October 4th, so a little bit over that, maybe over a week. Um, but one of the things I was When I was watching that, I was like, man, I should make Hi Me in One Year, which is what this will be. Hi Me in Five Years. Hi Me in Ten Years. Hi Me in Twenty Years. Hi Me in Fifty Years. Hi Me in Hundred Years would be pretty cool and sick. I don't even know if it would last that long because of I don't even know if this platform will last that long, but I'm hoping it will. So Hi Me in Hundred Years. Would be cool. I wouldn't be alive that long, but it would still be really cool. So, hi me in one year. What is hi me in one year? Well, right now I am currently at 1,080 downloads. I've recently just passed 1,000 downloads, and currently at the time of this recording, I am 17. Let me just check. Yeah, 17, and it's 2025. And I'm scheduling this to be uploaded October 12th of 2026, and it is 2:45 PM right now. And I just wanted to upload this right now. Yeah, I've just hit over 1,000 downloads. I think in my Spotify followers I have a little over 20 followers. Still in school and learning in school. By the time you're listening to this a year from now, I will be out Out of school, taking a gap year, learning, doing this podcast. Hopefully, I want to say the Mr. Beast thing where it's like I hope I'm still doing this podcast. I don't think I'm ever going to stop doing this because it's a lifelong journey, and I want to turn this into a business. And I really believe in my podcast. I want to be doing interviews. I want to. I just want to go build this thing. And so I just want to like record this quick. Hi, me in one year. Where do I think I'll be a year from now? Well, that's a good question. I mean, gap year, probably with, uh, 5,000 downloads, maybe, maybe 10,000. Honestly don't know who I'll interview, uh, kind of what the whole thing is, but I'm hoping that this is more of a Like Jaime in five years, and then the podcast has really blown up, or Jaime in ten years, just really blown up. But yeah, I definitely, I'm excited to see what the future holds. And I just wanted to record some of these because I'm still pretty young, and I really like it. I mean, I think it's fun, and it's just something to like keep in mind where it's like all right, you know. Hi, me in this amount of time. Let's see where I'll be at. I didn't really prepare for what I want to say, but I just want to kind of say things that, you know, where do I think I'll be at a year from now? Well, yeah. All right. 5, let's say 10,000 downloads or 5,000. Let's go 5,000 downloads. Probably at 50 episodes. No, maybe more than that. Probably 70-something episodes by then because I'm at 24 right now. I just hit 1,000 downloads. So yeah, probably around that, probably 75, 76. Um, and I am trying to think. Yeah, there's not really a whole lot I can predict about right now because it's like I'm hoping I have more followers. I'm hoping I, I have more. But yeah, it should be good. I'll have a good, good time. I'm gonna end this. I'm gonna record the 5-year one because that's gonna be really fun. Um, but yeah, hi me in 5 years. If you're listening to this, keep going. I believe in you. Um, I think you got this, and I can't wait to upload this and for you to listen to this a year from now. So I'm excited. I really want to do a 100-year one because I just want to get that out for like my future, like kids and their kids and like 100 years from now. Just imagine 100 years. I won't even be here 100 years from now if I upload that and it publishes. I might— I have to make sure that this service that I'm still publishing on is still here. But anyways, Uncommon Excellence is amazing. I love what I'm doing. And I hope you do too. I'm gonna end this and record those other ones, and thank you for listening to this.
