Two kinds of crying: one from feeling broken and small, one from feeling pain while recognizing your capacity to hold more. The difference is meaning. Tears that collapse you drain energy; tears that open you heal.

Most people cry and it doesn't actually help them. There are two kinds of tears: crying from lack and crying from expansion. Crying from lack says, "I'm broken, I'm small, I am missing something." The kind of crying threatens limitation. But there is another kind of crying When you feel the pain fully and still know you are bigger than it, those tears create expansion. In Kabbalah, this is called building a larger vessel. A larger vessel can receive more light. Psychology confirms this. Emotion without meaning drains you. Emotion with insight heals you. Heals you. So next time you cry, ask yourself, am I collapsing or am I opening? Because the right tears don't weaken you, they free you. Save this and share it with someone who needs it.
