How to free your infinite part from exile.

Uzi Moses teaches how to free your divine soul from exile within yourself by making it dominant over the animal soul. The method involves spiritual sadness, repentance, good deeds done joyfully, and heartfelt prayer. When your godly soul regains control, lasting happiness follows and ripples outward to improve everything around you.
Chapters
Hello, hello everyone and welcome. So good that you're here with me on this new episode where we are going to learn a little bit together. We're going to learn some Tanya in continuous to our previous two classes that I've made and posted online. This time we are going to try to squeeze 3 chapters into 1. We're gonna start with chapter Lamed Aleph, which is actually, which is actually the 1 chapter, but it's like 3 paragraphs, 3 days into 1, into 1 class, which will be the continuation of our work So pretty much what I'm trying to do in this videos, this classes, is to really understand the mindset of the Alter Rebbe, how that we can like literally overcome our evil inclination and make room for our godly soul to be more dominant in our life. So we can go out there and live life more joyfully, more happily, and really succeed in whatever it is that we do. You know, new business, relationship, peace at home, health, whatever it is that we are struggling with, the Tanya is literally giving us tools. Even though the Tanya talks about you know, something talks about more about the Jewish people versus, you know, also the Israelites. But the idea here is that this information is— could be applied by anybody, by anybody. The idea of Jewish people, what does that mean? It means that when you say Jewish, in Hebrew it means Yehudi. It means a person who is living gratefully, which means he is thankful. He is constantly being thankful to God for every breath that he takes, for every step that he makes. So it's more of like a consciousness. It's more of like a consciousness of gratitude. So when you describe what really means a Jewish person is a person that really lives a life of gratitude. It doesn't mean that if you are born a Christian, or Buddhist, or Muslim, or any other religion, you can be somebody who lives in gratitude and appreciation for life. Any human being alive can live in gratitude. We also know that humanity started from one family. It was Noah and his wife and his three kids, Ham, Shem, and Japheth. And from this family started All of humanity, all of humanity. So all of humanity is pretty much one people, one nation, one family. Not so much dysfunctional, I would say, you know, because we all see each other as different, you know, but we are not. We have the same creator, we have the same forces that are active upon us, and the same struggles as every human being has. Okay? The difference is that you would say, you know, so what's the difference between, you know, different religions? It's just the interpretation of the truth, but the truth is one. There's only one truth, and the truth is that we are created beings. There is a creator here, and he created a beautiful world, a world with so much goodness in it. That He wants us to receive it as a vessel to all this light that He is, and He really wants us to fight for the blessings. He wants us to really do the work that we need to do, mental, physical, emotional work that we need to do in order to reach fulfillment and to reach a state where we are fixing or correcting ourselves, our emotions. And by doing that, we are affecting the world. As we know in the holy books, a human being is described as the whole universe. So everything, even if a small act or small thought of any person, has a ripple effect that affects the whole world. This is how powerful humans are. Every human being is literally the whole universe. So let us begin that, that, you know, we spoke about the fact that last time that, you know, that we have to understand that we have two souls and then there is this one soul that is an actual part of the Creator, and the other is a soul that is really trying to make herself stronger, and it works really hard to hide and to dominate our Godly soul. And because of that, we have to really get mad at it. We have to say, "Enough is enough. We're not going to let you take over us. We are going to fight you." and we're going to do whatever it takes for our godly soul to prevail because we want to live godly soul. We want that all our blessings, all the happiness, everything that we wish for, and the correction of us and the world because we have effect on the world. When we change for the better, literally the world becomes a better place. So the Alter Rebbe keeps going and he's saying that that we have to really think about how great is the Creator. And we have to think about all these things that will bring us to a broken heart. He talks about a broken heart. He says that a broken heart is when we start to think about how great Hashem, the Creator, is and how small we are. And all the things that we do that are not really aligned with godliness could cause us to feel a broken heart. We can be heartbroken just by knowing how small we are and how the things that we do that we know, we know every person knows that there is different things and different thoughts and different ways that we— that each and every one of us act that we shouldn't. Why we know that? Because we know that there is a force that is really trying to prevent us from being and to understanding and to living a godly life. Because we are godly beings trapped in a limited body. And there is a way for us to get out of it. And this is what the Alter Rebbe is doing now. So he's saying, when we reach a point of broken heart, we are breaking the spirit of the other side, we are breaking the animal soul, and we are able to elevate ourselves. And he also talks about how much we need to fight. How much we need to fight that thing. We need to acknowledge it, we need to fight it. Since if we don't fight it, what happens? We automatically lose, and then, and then we are being dominated by the evil inclination. And that leads us to many, many issues. You know, when somebody is dominated by evil inclination, it's, let's just say, it's not a good situation to be in. You know, this is where you hear people have tons of issues. Okay, everybody has issues. Some has bigger than others, but nobody wants to be dominated. You know, you are a created godly being. Why would you want to be dominated by something so low, right? You want to be dominated by the true nature of who you are, which is godly. So he continues here that he's saying that we have to really understand that that we have to fight this thing and we have to really reach a point of heartbreak. And when we reach a point of heartbreak, we break that animal soul, that other side. And also to be humble, he says to be humble. And we are starting to learn that that when we really think about the greatness of the Creator and how little we are and how temporary our body is and how fragile really life is, we can reach a point of sadness. But he's saying that, that sadness, it's, it's, it could be a good thing and it could be a bad thing. So there is two different types of sadness. Okay, there is a sadness that comes from the side of spirituality. When we are sad that we are not spiritually elevated, and when we lose the wars against our evil inclination, there is sadness to it. But when we are sad because of physical things, then this sadness is not good, because this sadness can turn into depression, and it can turn into mental illnesses, and it could really, really bring us down. So he's saying to be careful, be careful, because a human being should always be happy. Because if you're not happy, it's hard for you to give, it's hard for you to be somebody who is out there for each other, or thinking about how can I make this world a better place. You know, you have to be in a state of happiness to really, to really be, you know, out there for each other and like whatever it is that you do, even if you work in a company, even if you, you know, a businessman, if you have a retail store, it doesn't matter, you know, when you are happy you can just do more and better. So this is why you have to not be afraid of sadness, don't be afraid of sadness, you just have to direct it in the right direction. And he also understands that there is You know, the idea that there are, he calls it something called klipa. Klipa, I don't want to get too much into what it means, but it's like a shell. So there is a shell that is standing between us and our godly soul, and that shell could be broken. And also, we need to know that we should also be understand that if we really want to be engaged in godliness and to really let our godly soul dominate our life, it could only happen through happiness. It could only happen through happiness. And we have to understand, you know, how to get there, because we really want to be in that situation. So this is why we have to learn And everything that we do, you know, everything that we do that has to do with spirituality, with doing a good deed, with, you know, being out there for the world, for humanity, it has to be done out of happiness. Because sadness just keeps you not doing, okay? So he continues and he's saying that The sadness that comes from physical things, it comes from the bad, from the evil in the shell, which is called the shell of nogah, which means, you know, it's a type of shell that separates, you know, a person from godliness. And he says that this klipa, this shell has a good side and a bad side. A shell on itself, it's not a good thing because it's something that separates us from godliness and we want to be united with it. We don't want to be separated, but it happens due to our deeds, due to our whatever, you know, when we're not connected, there is a shell. And he says that when we are sad from ungodly things, then we are able to connect then it's a good thing. So there is two different types of sadness. And he's saying that the sadness that comes from physical things, like for example, oh, I'm sad that I didn't, you know, went to this club or whatever that I wasn't supposed to go to, or from doing something physical, you know, like, but if you're sad because of something spiritual, you're saying, oh, I'm sad because I should have done better, or I could have elevated myself, or I could have reacted in a different way in a certain situation. From a spiritual sense, that sadness actually comes from the good thing. And he says, well, so how come, you know, the question that we're asking, how come, you know, even there is something bad, which is the shell, and there is also good in that, which means if we are sad because of something spiritual, it's considered good, but it's still in the bad side. It's still in the side of negativity. So there is this concept of fighting fire with fire. So what does that mean? It means that when you want to fight, when you want to fight, the evil inclination, you have to use something that is similar to it. So you have to really understand. And also he talks about not to be worried about all your misdeeds and all your sins, so to say, and all the things that you've done that you know that you shouldn't have been doing. Don't worry about it all the time. You have to really designate time for it. Designate time to sit down with yourself and saying, you know what, this is what I'm doing wrong. You know, maybe I'm not speaking the truth. Maybe I'm being, you know, manipulative. Maybe, you know, I'm not really caring so much about friends or family or my community or something like that. And then you just designate time for it. And don't beat yourself up too much. And especially at the time that you like working, like if you're working and you're doing something and you're out there trying to change and trying to do something, you can't be constantly sad, constantly depressed, because that could stop you from progressing, moving forward. And obviously we don't want that. So, so why do we have to really try to reach when we contemplate, when we designate that special time to think about what we are doing wrong and how we can do better, why do we have to really make an effort to reach a point of sadness that comes from a klipah, comes from a shell, comes from something that separates us from Godliness? How come? Because he talks about that, that like I said before, that the other side or the animal soul can only understand things that are like it. So when you fight it, you wanna fight it in like, fool it, like make it think, oh, you're sad and stuff like that. But it's really, you know, it comes from the good side because you're set up for spirituality. And when you're set up for spirituality, there is a great advantage to it because there is great happiness that usually comes right afterwards. So there is not just like, oh, you know, you'll be sad and stay sad, God forbid. But if you are sad because of physical things, then the outcome will not be good. But if you are sad because of spiritual things, then the outcome is tremendous happiness that comes afterwards. So, So it's like, it's sadness, but it's sadness that shows the sadness for not being spiritually elevated, and it shows our evil inclination. Oh, you know, look, I mean, they're sad because of something that they did, or this and that, but, you know, it helps break it. It helps break it. This is why we have to direct our sadness, not not let it turn into depression, but let it turn into like bitterness. Like I'm bitter. Why am I bitter? Because I'm not spiritually elevated enough. And that pushes me to be more spiritually elevated. And the outcome of that will be great happiness. Rather than I'm sad because I haven't, you know, went to a party or I haven't, you know, bought this or I was, I gave too much or whatever it is that it comes from the from the bad side of the shell that separates us, the outcome of that could be terrible, depression and just makes things worse. But the outcomes of sadness that comes from spirituality is great happiness, tremendous happiness. And he says, and he tells us how do we reach it? How do we reach that happiness? Because this is what we want. He says, we reach that happiness by reaching that specific sadness, sadness that comes from not being spiritually elevated, so to say. And sadness, he's saying that sadness, it also means contraction. Contraction, which means that you are contracting yourself. That your heart was like a heart of stone and there was no life, you know, no life. But, and this is the sadness we don't want to have, you know, that this sadness that comes from like being literally hearts Having a heart of stone, having a heart that doesn't have a heart of stone. And that sadness is not good because there is no life in the heart. The heart becomes a stone, God forbid. But being a bitterness, bitterness and a broken heart, what does that mean? It means that you are really shocked from yourself and you are bitter on yourself. How did you, how could you not be in that elevated state? You know, all this time you've been working on yourself, all this time you've been really trying hard to elevate yourself, and then this evil inclination, this energy just comes to you and just is trying to like put you down, and you're really sad about it, but it's a sadness that has life in it, that has lovinghood in it, that has more living into it, because it comes from the side of the good side of the shell that separates us. And this is why it comes as a way of bitterness. And he talks about that the happiness comes from grace, from wanting to give. And he says that the heart is made out of both. You know, our heart has both attributes, has the judgment and has grace. And in the spiritual language is Gvurot Vechasadim. And then he continues, and then he continues that we really have to really, really, really work on ourselves and don't let this, you know, animal soul and the evil inclination, you know, take over us, you know, because at the end of the day, you know, what are we trying to do? We're trying to save our godly soul, trying to save our godly soul. Our animal soul can never turn into something good. It will always stay animalistic, but we can just diminish its power and dominance over us. We just making it not effective. But the Godly Soul is what we really want to save, to bring to life. And when we understand how much the evil inclination is like, how much bad does it do to us? To like make our Godly soul, you know, being something insignificant in our life or in our everyday life, we get mad and we want to find a way to win it. And He gives us the formula, you know, find the right sadness, not sadness that comes from, you know, physical things, sadness comes from spiritual things and develop that bitterness And through that bitterness and broken heart, you reach tremendous happiness. Because why is this tremendous happiness? Because now you broke the evil inclination, and what happened? Your Godly soul now became dominant. Now you're back to being infinite. You're back to being truly who you are. And this is why we should always, and he talks about it, we should always make our Godly Soul mad, or our good nature mad at the evil inclination. Because through that, we're doing the work that we— that work is that the Godly Soul needs to do every once in a while, is to get mad and to overcome it. 'Cause this is how we overcome it. So he continues again and he says, this is the work, this is the work of being happy. Because you can only be happy when you're able to remove the barrier, the separation between you and the Creator. Because we live in a world that it's a world of illusion, it's a world of lie. Everything looks separated. But everything is really one, everything is one. Everything is connected. So, there is those separation that comes from, from, you know, us not being connected and, and through this work, we are removing the separation and we are becoming one and we are connecting to our Godly Soul and, and we reach tremendous happiness through it. And this is the way to do it. This is the way to do it. And then he continues to say that we always have to sit down and contemplate and to do the calculations and to see where we stand. Where we stand, what is our state, where are we right now, where are we, are we, you know, what is our status, what is our spiritual status, what is our spiritual situation. And when we feel that in our spiritual state, in our spiritual situation right now, we feel that the evil inclination is more dominant, we should get mad, And we should reach a point of sadness that comes from bitterness and broken heart, from not being in that spiritual state that we want to be, and through that we break the evil inclination and we reach the happiness that we all want to reach. And he continues, and he continues that eventually We have to completely get rid of the sadness that comes from physical things. You know, we should really like really ask ourselves, you know, what kind of sadness, what kind of, you know, because sadness is a way, it's a tool, you know, when it's the right portion, it's the right proportion, it's a tool to overcome the evil inclination, but if it's not done correctly, God forbid, it could lead to depression. So we want to be careful with that, and we want to get rid of the sadness that comes from, you know, physical things, because if we don't get rid of it, it's going to eventually develop into depression. Uh, so, so he says that after we are reaching this bitterness and broken heart and we are sitting with ourselves and we are checking with doing a spiritual check, where are we? By doing that, we really come to true happiness. True happiness, because we are, we are, we are bringing back, bringing back Godliness. We are again, again making Godliness and the Godly energy and our Godly part make room for it to enter our body, being dominant. And that has significant effect. You know, happiness obviously brings health and wealth and just we're reaching, you know, I heard from one Kabbalist that says that it's like entering a different realm. It's like your life becomes so harmonic. It's like all of a sudden everything synchronizes, and that's the state we want to be. So, so he gives us his advice. So he said, you should talk to your heart and just say— you should say to your heart, he said, oh yeah, I know, I know, I am so far from Being truly connected to Godliness. And I am, you know, my body is low and here I am standing by myself with my body and with my animal soul. That's, you know, animal soul that's gonna make my body alive. But I know as a fact that I have a Godly part in me, literally, literally. And we understand that this Godly part has a Godly spark in it, and that Godly spark, he it's enclosed in the body to bring the body to life. That's what, that's what true living means. That's why it's also described that really wicked people are considered dead, because if they are not really connected to the true nature of truly who they are, they totally forget it, they totally not doing the work, It's like a walking dead. Yeah, I mean, they walk, we see them, they speak, they do everything, but it's a spiritual death, it's not a physical death, it's a spiritual death. And by doing that, we're not only preventing the spiritual death, but we are bringing it and let it become dominant in every cell of our body, which is the actual spark of godliness that was in exile. Why was it in exile? Because the animal soul, the animal soul, you know, was like so dominant that it like literally took our godliness and put it in exile. And now we are really fighting back to get it. And this is the tools that he's giving us. And it's great because when we understand that on the practical level, Like literally, it's a force. You become a force of nature. Nothing can stop us. We could like literally accomplish anything. When you are connected to the master of the universe and you're working with it as one, then all you're going to do and all you're going to accomplish is going to be good and it's going to benefit the world and humanity. And that's what God wants you to do. Because when you do that, you're really able to, God willing, eventually bring the complete redemption of the world, which is the removal of death, sorrow, pain, suffering, illnesses. But it has to start with us. It has to start with each and every person. When we really do the internal work, each and every human being, eventually when we reach a critical mass of people, doing that, thinking that, making sure that their actual part of godliness is dominant within them, we could really make a shift in the world. A shift in the world. I can't wait for that to happen. Because when that's going to happen, then it's going to be the true redemption. True redemption of humanity. Enough with the world of absurd The world of absurdity. Enough with that. So he continues here, and he says that when we find ourselves in a lower spiritual state, we have to talk, we have to say, we have to talk, say that, you know, my godly soul is in exile. And we should have mercy on it. And this is why I'm going to do everything in my power to bring it out and to bring it up from this exile and to bring her back to the, to the to the house of her father as she was when she was young. And this is a parable that the Alter Rebbe is using. And, but what does it mean? It means that we have to bring back our godly soul to the same state it was before it even came to our body, when it was with the Creator, you know. 'Cause then when it was with the Creator before we were born, where was our Godly spark? It's infinite, right? So it was with the Creator, with its father, because the soul is like, it's considered the female compared to the Creator. This whole world is female, even males in this world. So it goes back and And that's what we should do. We should like put every effort that we have, everything that we can do to bring back the Godly soul into a father, which means back to us, to reside in our body and to dominate our life. And then he talks about also You know, when we really are connected to our Godly soul, then all we really want is to do good deeds. We are going to like literally become philanthropists, all of us. We're just gonna wanna just think about what's the next thing I need to do? Each one in his level, each one in his level, you know? Jews will go and, you know, go to synagogue and do whatever they need to do. All the deeds that they need to do. Christians will go and do all the things they needed to do. Muslims will go and do all the things that we need to do. Every human being, according to their faith, according to their religion, will be engaged in goodness and will just really work hard to understand how one we all are. And everybody should just like work hard to do as much good as they can. And he says that, that we should also understand also the power of prayer, power of prayer, because we have to scream, scream to God, you know, like I know there is some places that they doing scream therapy where you go and it's a group of people screaming, screaming in nature to God, screaming nature. He's saying you can scream also when you pray, you should scream. Because why? Because you want to become one with that Godly spark that is in exile because of the animal soul that we should get mad at for doing that, for putting our Godly soul in exile. And then he talks about two tools, he says, you know, teshuvah, which is repentance, and good deeds. So he is comparing them. He says, So there is the idea of repentance and then the ideas of good deeds, and it's two different things. Repentance comes to fix the things that we did in the past, the bad things that we did in the past. This, you know, whatever we did in the past, we wronged someone, we were talking evil gossip, we were, you know, whatever it is, let's not get into, everybody knows exactly what things that they did that they shouldn't have done. And for that, there is repentance. It's to fix the past. But good deeds, what is good deeds? It's something that we are doing now, and it has nothing to do with the past. But the Alter Rebbe is connecting them into one thing. Why? Because the good deeds has to be has to be out of the intention to bring back that Godly infinite spark back to us. You know, which is to the source of where it comes from, to the Creator. And the Creator is the source of everything. It says that good deeds are connected in bringing back the soul to its source, and that's the Indian of repentance, because repentance also means to shuva, which means to come back. So how do we bring back that spark? Through good deeds that we're doing now, even though it's two separate things, because Repentance talks about, oh, I did this in the past, I'm trying to fix the past. But good deeds is I'm trying, I'm going to do something to help bring back my Godly spark. And this should be the work of a human being. Should do, it's something that we should do every single day with great happiness because when the soul, you know, comes back from exile comes back, you know, back home to her father, there is no bigger happiness than that. No bigger happiness than that. And we should always, always, always repent. Should always live our life through this concept. And he gives an amazing parable here. It's a parable about a son of a king, son of a king that was captured and was kidnapped, and he was in jail, and also it was a very, very hard— he was arrested, he was in jail, and it was hard labor. Was it jail with hard labor? It has to do hard labor every day. It has to clean trash, it has to clean dirt. And from that situation, it went out back to the house of his father, the king of that time. So imagine a son of a king that it's in that is in jail with hard labor, getting released, getting released, going back home to the castle, to the palace, back to his father's house. And this is how a Godly soul is. You know, when we do the work, when we really work on it, what do we do? We release it, just like the parable of the son of the king. Comes back, back home, comes back to the king, and that happiness is unprecedented happiness. And we have that option, we have that opportunity to do that, and there is, and it's a really, really great, great, great happiness that every person should really, you know, experience that happiness at least once. In their life. Because then he talks also, he talks about the idea that— let me see how many minutes we are in, and then I'll see what else I can do. Wow, wow, wow, we're 40 minutes in. This was a long one. Okay, so I'm going to try to shorten it a little bit more because that's 40 minutes just went by so quickly. But okay, so I'm going to continue real quick and I'm going to try to close it. And then he talks about, you know, the technicality of how, you know, the godly soul comes back and turns into godliness. But the animal soul can never be good, but it could also be diminished. And it is not including, it's not included in the actual light of holiness. It's just, you know, it's just there, but when we do the good deeds that we do, affect the clothing, which is the thought, speech, and action of the animal soul, which means that the powers, they don't turn into good, but it could be in great happiness because we know that that the Soul becomes more precious to be part of that happiness of bringing back our Godly Soul from exile. Okay, so I'm going to finish here for today. With the idea that the Godly Soul disconnects itself from exile and from the Animal Soul through— remember, through good deeds. Even though the body stays low, stays in a low state, he compares it to like getting out of Egypt. Which means, why is it compared to getting out of Egypt? Because everything that happened in the physical world of the Israelites back then its source came from spirituality. So even though, you know, we hear about the story about, you know, the children of Israel, the Israelites coming out of, you know, being enslaved and coming out of exile, this is the story of the soul. This is the story of our Godly soul, pretty much. And this is what he's saying, that we constantly have to understand that, that we have to come, we have to bring back our godly soul from exile. And we have to, and we have, there is the parable of the son of the king. And then there is the parable of coming out of Egypt, coming out of slavery to freedom. And then he says, and we have to run, we have to run, you know, because they wait, because when the Israelites, told Pharaoh, we're going to be back in 3 days, and then they ran. So it's the same thing, you know, we have to run, run, because Hashem is Uzi Moses PhD PhD, which means God is my strength, He's my power, and it's the place where I'm running to. In a day of trouble. And we should all really, really understand how much happiness we can achieve by doing this work, by really letting— breaking the barrier, breaking the thing that blocking our Godly Soul from being the dominant part of our life.
