The Advantage of Light Over Darkness.

In this Purim‑themed YouTube lecture, Uzi Moses, PhD, continues a series on the Tanya, emphasizing the oneness of creation and the purpose of the world as a dwelling place for the Creator in the lower realms. He explains that recognizing that all reality is ultimately God brings profound joy and allows the divine to dwell within each person, likening it to a king visiting one’s home. The talk frames this awareness as an inherited spiritual legacy passed down from the Patriarchs through the prophets to Moses, who exemplified ultimate humility. Moses is presented as the ultimate channel of divine light. The speaker connects these ideas to the concept of “advantage of light over darkness,” describing how turning inner darkness (the animal soul, illusion, and separation) into light through thought, speech, and action mirrors the Purim story of darkness turning to good. He discusses the significance of the Holy Temple as a focal point for divine presence, the role of Torah study in compensating for its destruction, and the practical need for continual self‑work to redeem the godly soul. Throughout, he stresses that this consciousness frees individuals from illusion, brings happiness, and fulfills the purpose of creation. The lecture concludes with typical YouTube calls to like, share, and subscribe.

All right, everyone. Happy Purim. As you can see, I'm wearing my costumes. I'm just a guy from the '70s, and I will continue today to learn Tanya from exactly the point we stopped. It's just too good to skip. So, so last time, if you guys remember, we spoke about the idea that we understand the oneness of creation, we understand that there is only one reality that exists and it's God. We are, just by understanding that, we are coming close to the Creator. We're becoming one with the Creator. And by doing that, we definitely guaranteed, you know, when we live, when you live life and you and you understand that this world is an illusion, in a sense that everything looks separated, everything looks different, you know, I'm here, you guys are there. But really, everything is one, it's one, there's only one reality, and that's the Creator. Creator is everything, it's up, down, like there is a song, that Hashem is here, Hashem is there, Hashem is truly everywhere, up, down, left, right, and all around. Which means there is no place that Hashem cannot be found. And when we can understand that, the oneness, this is really, really truly bring us tremendous joy and happiness. And it's really getting us closer to the Creator. Because at the end of the day, what's, what's What's the whole purpose of everything? Why were we created? Why was this world created to begin with? It's because Hashem wanted to build himself a place to dwell in the lower worlds. Because, because the Creator is spiritual, he wasn't able to experience physicality, so he created a physical world so the created being could invite him in. And he can experience with them the joy of living. So, when we truly experience joy, the Creator experience joy, and vice versa. So, the whole purpose of creating the world, it's because the Creator wanted to build an apartment or a dwelling place inside the lower created beings, that through that people will see the oneness of creation. And the oneness of creation is just amazing, amazing. And he gives us here a little bit of an example, saying that Imagine that you would have a real king, you know, King Charles of England, coming to visit your house, coming to visit you. Wouldn't you be excited? Wouldn't you be thrilled? I mean, a real true king is coming. So imagine the same thing, the same thing when you invite the Creator into your life. When you wage war against your animal soul and when you work on redeeming your Godly Soul and bringing it back from exile and make it more dominant over the evil inclination and the animal soul, then this is exactly what you're doing. You are bringing the king back to the palace and you're letting them, you're letting the Creator reside within you. And when the Creator resides within you, This is just an unbelievable thing, you know, because this is when you really truly enter the flawless universe. The flawless universe is where really everything just works out and connected, and you know that you are at the right place at the right time doing the right thing. There is no distraction, there is nothing that pulls you down. You are able to win the wars and it shows. So we really have to really, really, really, really be so lucky and understand how lucky we are as human beings to have that opportunity that we could, you know, reside— I mean, we could invite the Creator of the Universe to come and dwell inside of us. I mean, what could be better than that? So, so it's just like the Alter Rebbe describing it. It's just like this understanding, this realization, this consciousness. It's just like winning the lottery. It's just like winning the spiritual lottery, pretty much. Because when you really understand the, the significance of what that means, And it's something that we inherited from our ancestors. You know, it didn't come easy to us. You know, now we're in a generation that we can learn it, we can spread it, we can make YouTube video about it. But the idea here is that this is an inheritance that we have, our generation, that we inherited from our ancestors. Who did the work for us to invite Godliness and taught us that idea that we could actually redeem our Godly Soul and also the advantage of light over darkness, good over evil. And he calls it an inheritance. Because in our work, we were not able to really reach. Like if somebody would do all the works on his own and try to understand that there is, the world is one and there is unity and everything is connected. And there is a lot of what that means for daily life, but it's just really that consciousness is just freeing you from from literally the bondage of the separate world, of the world of illusion, I call it. And it's a great, great freedom. And we got this as an inheritance. You know, it's an inheritance because our ancestors and You know, from Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, all the way down to all the righteous people to ever live. They knew it, they felt it, they knew it all along. I mean, Abraham discovered it and then he started spreading it and he was doing outreach. That's why most of religions today believe in Abraham. I mean, from, you know, Muslims, Christianity, I mean, Abraham was the the first, so to say, spiritual connected human being who discovered the oneness of creation. And he really, really worked hard to spread it. So, we should really, really be happy, really, really be happy about this idea alone, that this is the essence, this is the purpose of creation and this creation of all the worlds. And if there is only one good deed, one mitzvah, one good deed that a person should do, the Alter Rebbe is telling us, is to do that. Is to be happy believing in the oneness of creation, in the oneness of the Creator. Because through that, you could really elevate your Soul and heal your Soul from all the mental problems that comes from the body and the animal Soul, which creates many mental issues to many people. You know, because when you don't see the world the way it is, when you don't perceive reality the way it is, You're starting to get into all kinds of mental issues, almost, pretty much. You know, so, so, so, all those things, all those, you know, he calls it, you know, all the obstacles, so to say, that comes from the animal soul, and from the body should never prevent us to engage in constant good deeds and to learn. To learn what is the Creator wants from me, what is my purpose, to find the purpose, to work hard on achieving that purpose, set goals, learn. Time is short, tons to do, tons to do. But we really should understand, there should be nothing besides the Creator. And there is nothing that could really stand between us and the Creator if you really truly want to connect to the faith, to this faith, and to this understanding, and to this consciousness of the oneness. And you know, it used to be, you know, a religious thing, or a Jewish thing, or Muslim thing, but it's not anymore. It's a human thing. It's a human thing. We have to really understand that there is one Creator and it's one and we are part of this oneness. And everything that's happened, it's really truly orchestrated by the Creator, every little detail of everything. And when we really truly believe in that, We are bringing back to life. We're bringing back our Soul to life. And he even compares it to the resurrection of the dead. Because when you live without this consciousness, it's actually almost like you're blind. You're blind, you can't see the Oneness of Creation. It's a sad situation, you know? But the Soul that gets it, The person that gets that oneness, it's like literally like the resurrection of the dead. And through that, you're going to live triply more with happiness and be a lot more alive. Because a person that really understands the idea that we need to make room for the Creator of the universe to come and live with us and reside inside of us, Only that idea alone should bring tremendous happiness. And now he's talking about again, and which is pretty relevant to the holiday of Purim, which is, you know, darkness that was trying to do something terrible turned out into something great, into something good. And it's just like, How to turn darkness into light. Because darkness is everything, it's all the shells, it's everything that stands between us and the Creator. And it's all, everything that makes us believe the illusion, makes us believe that there is nothing besides this reality. But really, you know, we already have all the proof to understand that there is so much more. That we don't see, we don't hear. You know, we are very limited in our sight, hearing, and our 5 senses. You know, we are only grasping a fraction of reality with our 5 senses. There is so much more around us that we don't see. And our job is to remove that veil, is to remove that veil and to start to remove that illusion and to start seeing the unity in everything. Unity, because the idea is that everything that is blocking us from being a part of the creation, from seeing the oneness of the creation, it's something that is considered to be impure, not pure, not good. It doesn't come from the side of you know, pure consciousness of the Creator, which is good and pure and holy. And this comes from the other side. And when we have that understanding and we live with this consciousness, that the oneness of creation and the oneness of the Creator, What do we do? We break that shell. We break that shell that separates us from seeing the true reality, and we're able to get glimpse of that oneness. And the Creator loves that, loves that. He loves when, when a human being, which is like his son, is doing a work that breaks the barrier between us and the Creator. And when we do that, the Creator just gets filled with happiness and makes us happy. And it's just a beautiful interaction, a beautiful relationship that's going on. Because when we do that, this is, What we do, we are turning darkness into light. We're turning darkness into light through our thoughts, speech, and action. We can literally turn darkness into light. And then there is another advantage here, that there is the advantage of light that comes from darkness, which means from turning darkness into light, there is more advantage than just light. And so he talks about it, how, you know, how when you're not in Israel, because, you know, we know that Israel is a very spiritual center, like Jerusalem, the Holy Temple, and there is a lot of spiritual, like, vibration and radiation when you're there. But when you're far from there, when you're just, let's say, like me right now in California, in Los Angeles, you know, it's far from there. And it's hard for us to kind of see, but when we do see, when we do get glimpse of that energy, that also gives so much, you know, comfort and so much ease to the creator that even though we are far from the energy center, We are still revealing light and we are turning darkness into light. And it's really, really like the, you know, the concept of the advantage of light over darkness is very simple because a little light, just think about it, a little light removes a lot of darkness. If you turn on a candle in a dark room, that little tiny candle Lights up the room, lights up the whole room, and you can see, you know, and that's a big advantage. You know, there's so much darkness, and one little candle, boom, darkness is gone. It's a true advantage. And again, we are continuing here that we should really, really understand that we were created to do this. And that's what we need to do. We need to literally break those shells of the other side and the world of separation and enter the world of unity, of the oneness of creation. And he continues here that, that really, it's really truly a recipe for tremendous happiness. When we understand that, you know, just believing in the idea of the oneness of Hashem and understanding that this world is truly an illusion because all these things that look separate, there's not really separation. Everything is one. There is one creation. It's just that realization alone, just that consciousness, brings happiness, gets you closer to your creator, and give you almost, you know, the ability to enter a world which is flawless, which is synchronized, which is good in many levels. Okay, so now we are going to continue to Pirkei Avot, to chapter 34 in the Tanya, and we're going to continue how, you know, the Alter Rebbe explained that we have to constantly work on ourselves and bring our souls and enlighten ourselves with the happiness of the heart by understanding and contemplating and meditating on the oneness of creation, on the oneness of the Creator, and how much the Creator is just so amazing. It's just him alone in this world, and everything that really exists nullifies in reality compared to him, and it's like it doesn't exist. Like the example with lighting up a candle in the middle of the in the middle of noon, you know, when the sun is shining, you light up a candle, you're not really making any impact. It's like the candle doesn't exist. And it's the same thing with our world compared to the Creator. So, and then he continues to say that we know that the fathers, they are the chariots, which means they are the ones who brought that consciousness. And and brought it down into this world. Which means, when we talk about a chariot, it means that, that our ancestors, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, they literally nullified their will and were able to be, you know, like, like a chariots, like to carry this energy, this consciousness with them, and to tie their Soul into the Creator. And after that, after the, after the fathers, you know, that really knew about the oneness of creation. Then they came the prophets, and all the prophets, according to each prophet's level, understood it. And they were really able to nullify themselves to the oneness of creation. And then there was the level of Moses, which He says that it was the highest of all of them. Because he says that Moses was like literally, he was talking and like the word of creation of God was like literally coming out of his mouth. Because he was the humblest, the most humble person to ever live. He says there is never going to be somebody so humble because he nullified himself so much that he wasn't even existing in reality. He was just a pure, pure channel of the Creator. And he talks about that idea that, you know, are we really able to nullify our ego, to nullify our sense of self, to nullify the world of separation? We are completely becoming a channel to the infinite light of the Creator. So, again, the Creator wanted us to build a place for him to come and reside here with us. And he also, he also asked to build the Holy Temple in Jerusalem because he wanted to be revealed, to reveal himself to the world through there, through that location. Which is pretty crazy how, you know, humanity, forget about Jews, forget about any, forget about religion in general right now, but how humanity, humans that we reached such a peak of wealth and and technologies and we can build whatever we want, whenever we want. How can— how did we not build the Holy Temple? How did we not build the Holy Temple? This is such an absurd. Forget about politics, forget about anything, this is something for everyone, for all humans. This is our Creator, the Creator of the Universe. That's what— that's the place he said, this is where I want you guys to build it for me. So you guys can come and really enjoy and immerse yourself. In my energy, so I can literally live inside of you and take you to your full potential, to true happiness. We all want to be happy, right? We all just want to really truly be happy. And it's all about love. I mean, the Creator is so much love. There's so much love he wants to give and to share with us. You know, and all he wants is for us to remove that barrier, because there is that barrier. We're starting to believe the illusion. We hang on to the illusion like it's the only thing that exists, but it doesn't. Doesn't. And then he keeps talking about how, you know, The oneness of Hashem, you know, after the destruction of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem, there is no place like this that we could really see the oneness of creation in the physical world. So, this is why we have, you know, we have the Torah and we have, you know, all the different Holy books that convey this consciousness. So we can like connect with it through that, through the Torah and through all the holy books. And again, he continues here that really, you know, as humans, we can't really understand what the Creator is. Was we know that there is oneness, we know, you know, that there is, he's the only reality that exists. So we know a lot of things that we can grasp with our human mind, but I mean, it's way more than that, because I mean, I don't think humans really could really truly understand what the Creator is and how vast and how big he is and why he does everything and how everything is is calculated. But what we know is that we can break the shell that separates us and him, we can redeem our godly soul, and we can live joyfully and happily close to our creator. And that's the goal, because when we do that, we'll be able to reach our mission, our purpose, and be truly happy, not only financially, but with everything we do. And again, he continues, he continues that we should really, you know, put the time and study and learn, because there is so much, there's so much work we need to do on ourselves. It doesn't end, and there is so much more to learn. Yeah, it's beautiful that, you know, somebody can really understand that the oneness of creation and start to see the world in different glasses. Not the glasses of separation, but the glasses of unity, glasses of oneness. It's great. It's going to bring true happiness and joy, but we still have to learn more. There's a lot more to learn. That's not the only thing we should do. And also understand how lucky we are and how, you know, that we have the opportunity to literally host The Creator of the world, the King of Kings inside of us. I mean, that opportunity alone, that consciousness alone is just so empowering. So empowering. And really, I'm going to end up over here. I want to wish everybody a continuous happy Purim. It was really such a great, great party last night. And I'm looking forward to what's coming today. I'm still going to another party that's going to start in about an hour. So I'm going to rest a little bit. Thank you so much for listening. Thank you for being here. Please like, share, subscribe, and I'm looking forward to see you at the next video.
