In this YouTube tutorial, the instructor demonstrates how to play Steve Lacy’s song “Love 2 Fast.” The video is divided into two main sections that correspond to the song’s structural parts. The presenter first explains the intro/verse section, outlining a repeating chord progression (C – F – Dm – G – Am – F♯½dim – B7♯9 – E7♭13) and a specific strumming‑then‑pluck pattern: strum the chord while muting the high‑E string, then pick the high‑E and B strings. Detailed fingerings are given, including barre techniques with the ring finger, and a special melody on the E7 chord that uses the index‑finger barre plus a pinky on the B string. The instructor notes that the second pass through the loop adds a top‑note melody played with the pinky. The second section covers a more nuanced bridge/chorus part. It starts with an Fmaj7 chord using a picking pattern (E, G, high‑E, B strings) and proceeds to a B7 chord with a different picking order (A, D, B, G strings). The tutorial shows how to vary these patterns on subsequent repetitions by adding the pinky on the Fmaj7, switching to an E‑dominant chord, and eventually moving through B♭maj7, C7, and returning to the original Fmaj7 before ending on the E‑dominant shape. Throughout, the instructor emphasizes that simpler versions (holding chords without the melodic embellishments) are acceptable for beginners. The video concludes with a reminder to suggest future tutorials and a promise of weekly uploads.

Well, well, well, look what we have here. It's me. And I brought precious goods from a faraway land. Love Too Fast by Steve Lacey. This was one of the most highly requested songs that I had under the other comments. So here you go. I'm trying to upload more frequently at least once a week. So my channel's not very big. And if you leave a suggest in the comments, I'll probably get to it. All right, we got two sections. I'll play the first one now and the other one later. That's the first part. Okay, now I'll show you how. Starts with a C major chord. Nice and simple. And basically the pattern for all these chords is we're going to strum the chord, not the high E string. And then you're going to pluck or pick the high E string and the B string. After that, you're going to go to a F major chord, but with. With an extra note on the top bar. So you're gonna have to bar all of these with your ring finger. So it'll sound like this first two chords, Followed by a D minor chord, same thing. And then a G major chord. Our first four chords, C major, F major, D minor, G major. Going to an A minor, going to an F sharp, half diminished. And this one's going to be different than the other ones because the strings that we're going to pick, pick after the strum are going to be our B and our G strings. And then we have a B7 sharp nine, same thing as the F sharp chord. You're going to strum just the B and the G strings. So it's going to go. And then this chord is a little tricky. It's an E7, like flat 13. But what we're going to do to play this melody is you're going to start with just your index finger barred on the. On like the top three strings. And when you strum, don't strum your high E string. And you say you're going to strum then high E string. And then you're going to put your pinky down on the third fret of your B string one more time. So, see, you're adding pinky off then on, and then it just starts over. And it's almost the exact same until you get to the end. The last two chords, I think. So just follow along with me. So we have our C. Oh, and also the second time around, you're gonna do this little melody. It's gonna go. And so for this, you're gonna play it at top note with your pinky. And then when you play the last note, you can just kind of let go of the bar. It happens pretty fast. So they're not really gonna. Same as before, same as before, same as before. And now instead of going to the B, the B chord, the B7 chord, we're going to go to a G major chord like we did earlier. And then you're going to go to an E7 chord and you're just gonna strum your bottom four strings and then pick the. Pick the top note. So the whole second time, second time around the loop, sound like this. Start over again. So that's the first part. So you'll play the first part one time for the intro, and then it happens one time for the verse. And when I say one time, I mean with the first and the second ending. And then after that it goes to this section. And then we're back to the other section. Let's get into this. So there's some nuances that I'm going to show you guys how to do. That is exactly how we play it on the record. But for the sake of simplicity, you don't have to do all this stuff. Some. There's going to be some times where you can just hold the chord out instead of doing what I'm going to do to show you, like the fancy way. Anyway. So we're going to start with an F major 7. And this has a very specific picking pattern, which is E string, G string, high E string, B string. And you're gonna hold this out, leave your pinky off of it. So use your. Your ring finger and your middle finger. And then we're gonna go to a B7 chord. And the picking pattern is similar, but it doesn't use the exact same string. So it's not the same. This time it's going to be A string, D string, B string, G string, one more time. And then it's going to go back to the F chord that we just played. But the second time through, it's going to. You're going to put your pinky up here and go. So the second time that it happens, it goes like this. This is one of those areas where if you want, you could just keep playing the same thing. So it's gonna go back to the regular B7. But now the second time you're gonna strum an E dominant chord, Hitting that B string and then the G string. So one more time on that B7 chord the second time. So the whole second time is going to sound like this. Back to the F major 7 for the third time, To the B7 again. On the third time, it's going to change. And after that B7, you're going to go to a B flat major 7 and you're going to strum your A string, your G string, your high E string and your B string, Go up to a C7 chord, back to our original F major 7 chord. And then it's going to go to the E dominant chord that we played at the beginning, where you bar with your whole index finger. Remember that? Where you're doing the thing with your pinky. And then we're at the top again, and that's it.
