Podcast interview (Aug 5, 2024) with molecular biologist Dr. Nichola Conlon about the role of NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) in cellular aging. Dr. Conlon explains that NAD+ declines with age due to higher cellular demand and reduced recycling (NAMPT impairment), that lifestyle factors (alcohol, smoking, toxins, inflammatory diet, stress, sedentary behavior) accelerate depletion, and that fasting/exercise and targeted supplements can raise NAD+ and improve energy, cognition, sleep, and biomarkers of aging. She describes developing a multi-ingredient supplement (Nuchido Time) intended to restore NAD+ production, reduce inflammation and methylation-related loss of precursors, and summarizes a double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover human study showing NAD+ increases, activation of NAMPT, reduced inflammation/glycation, and lowered biological age in generally healthy adults aged ~20–80.
