A former North Face designer explains why VR is ideal for tent design: it lets designers get inside the tent, assemble parts, and iterate in real space. He sees the same potential for handbags and other products.
when I was at VF, at The North Face, we designed tents. The best way to design a tent is in VR because you can get it, you can design the tent around you and you can get inside the tent and you can put in pieces of the tent. And it's the right solution. And I think spatial ideation, especially for something like handbags, could be a great solution in the future.
